Chapter Three

••••••SABER'S PERSPECTIVE••••••

Picking up the card I found myself at a loss for words. This woman was a doctor, yet she seemed so eager to experiment on me. Blinking between the card and her I couldn't help but wonder what her qualifications really were. I mean she looked so young.

"Yeah, is there a problem with that. I mean last I checked you are still breathing thanks to me, but I guess I could fix that if my services were subpar and there is a clinic about 3 miles down that could take care of you."

As she spoke, I grew even more weary, but I couldn't deny that she had a point. She had also warned me that there could be dire effects that came with her injecting the potion into me, so she had in reality preformed her job appropriately. Looking down at the card again I flipped it over and admired the craftsmanship for a moment.

The card held her full name, her title, the address of the shop I was currently in, and her business hours, which to me were a bit odd. It also appeared that each one of the cards had been completely hand made with beautiful Calligraphy in a bold metallic silver ink., An elegant half Mandela and what looked like a marbled paint in the background.

Placing the card into my pocket I looked back up at her with a smile before responding.

"So now I know your name Ms. Adalynn. Back to your question about explosive, I only use them when a job requires a statement I don't know if you've heard yet but the explosion that happened in Amèr that killed 100 people…"

"Well, that was yours truly. Paid me fairly good for it too. You do have a nice shop here though and I would like to do business with you if you're willing to make some gold. By the looks of business, I say it's a little slow, so I'm here to buy things and have you as my supplier."

She blinked at me with a shrug, and I was slightly confused. This woman was not only a doctor but running a shop, yet she didn't seem like she cared a lick if she had a single customer.

"I mean this is a shop which sells things so if you wish to buy things you're absolutely in the right place as with or without business I wouldn't turn away a customer. As for how much it will be or what will do that would depend on what exactly you're getting."

"I can collaborate with you on bulk orders and if it's under the 100g you offered we will find some stuff to add on to get it there. Oh, and as for if you are satisfied with the care, I provided I honestly didn't care either way so yeah, you're welcome. Now I think that about covers that, so any other questions."

Everything about this woman intrigued me. After all, here I was trying to offer her business and she was acting like it was no big deal if I did or didn't, then add on the fact that she had to point out that she didn't care if I was truly satisfied with my care I had to wonder if people were as abrasive with her as she was being with me.

"I'm guessing by the way your acting people clearly don't offer much praise for work but then again, few people will be able to heal my kind. Also, I will be wanting to buy a lot of explosives and the most potent poisons you have. I like the one you have that even does clean up."

I had been hoping that my response would soften her up a bit yet once again she came back to it with such sass and a rather adorable joke that I wanted to laugh.

"Well, everything's labeled so have at it. May my shop be your candy store... A rather unorthodox candy store but candy store nonetheless."

Then as if I weren't even here, she looked back down at her book. Clearly, she wasn't going to help me find anything I was looking for. I just couldn't for the life of me figure this damned woman out could I. I would think maybe, and she would show me otherwise every time.

As I turned to walk away though she would quickly look back up from her book and speak again throwing me for yet another loop.

"Wait until you were expecting me to gather them up for you or make them for you."

I smiled softly about to open my mouth to tell her it would be much appreciated and that's when she hit me with her usually snarky brat response, I should have been used to by this point.

"Cause this is kind of a self-service shop. The only thing I offer service-wise is healing and well I'm quite sure you're good. I could be wrong though."

Cocking my head at her I grinned and rolled my eyes.

"I guess I'll have to get them myself, but you know then again, I could just as easily buy everything. See that's what's great about my job I get paid how much I want when I want and doing this job for so many damn years."

"After all, right now you look pretty board so I might as buy everything then we could go do something fun instead."

Stopping for a second, I would try and think of something that would be fun for her before speaking again.

"How about this you love to have a guinea pigs right? So, I have a job right now that I was heading to, well, till I was ambushed, to deal with a certain group of Griffis that have been causing my employer problems. The question is would you want to evaluate some of your experimental things on these ones?"

••••ADALYNN'S PERSPECTIVE••••

Blinking at him and his proposal, I bit my lip before looking down at my book. I had been having quite a few issues recently with getting some of my healing potions to be injectable without some sort of dire consequences and it would be quite helpful to be able to evaluate a few of them so that I could get them working properly.

I knew everything about the proposal was wrong but if they were bad people was it really so wrong to assess something that should heal them so that once I do use it on an actual patient it will work properly. I mean okay yes it could potentially kill them, but I have things here to stop that from happening right?

I also couldn't just ignore the shop, potential patients, or the fact that this man thought he could buy out everything, including me it seemed.

"Oh, sweetheart you do realize there are quite a few extremely rare grimoires in here that are worth more than that pretty little head on your shoulders. Now while I'm sure you have all the money in the world and could buy just about anything including women, I am not one of those things."

"So, if you want my help that's one thing and simply ask for it but do us both a favor and have a little dignity when you do."

"As for your question of if I wish to assess my products on them the answer would be yes but if you'd kindly refer to the card you pocketed, I do have business hours so you will either have to wait or you will need to bring them here. I'm sure with your skill set though that wouldn't be much of a task for you right."

I then looked back down at my book slightly worried that I had upset him with how I responded. However, when he did respond I couldn't help but giggle a bit.

"Sounds like a challenge that I'll be more than happy to take you up on. My skills aren't really the ones in question here though. The only thing is since you're an amazing doctor I sure do hope your experimental treatments cause great pain."

"For this I'll need something that'll cause paralysis to bring back your test subjects."

I smiled softly at his response and shook my head. This man was clearly a lunatic, but I was not about to tell him that the only drugs I would be testing on anyone where those meant to heal.

"Left side near the front of the shop second shelf up the label will read Midnight Naari. It is, however, a powder so, do be careful."

"Okay well I'll just need enough to put into my blow darts. Can you turn it into liquid form for me or are you going to make me do that myself to. You know what I can do, it doesn't want to cause your pretty little hands any damage trying to help me. I just need a couple of beakers."

I sat there listening to him as he spoke, trying my hardest not to laugh. It was abundantly clear that this man knew nothing of ingredients on this planet.

"It's better in powder form but if you must then by all means you can use the cauldron your bloody towels are in if you'd like."

"No, it's fine. If it's better in power form, I'll empty out a couple of my smoke bombs and use them as the delivery device. It's an exceptionally good thing my last job actually brought them closer to me."

As he continued to walk around and talk about this job, I couldn't help but notice his eyes seemed a bit more vibrant as I glanced up at him from my book. It was breath taking how beautiful they were and to think something so magnificent was on such a crack pot made me giggle a bit to myself.

"If I'm correct they should be showing up near hear tomorrow trying to find me. I hope your right about this powder, otherwise you won't have any testing subjects."

I rolled my eyes, and a giggle escaped me at his last words. He was acting like I had concocted the Midnight Naari myself out of a bunch of ingredients when in all reality it was simply pollen gathered from a local flower during a full moon.

"That works. And if you question my products abilities again, I will be sure the next test subject I use is you. After all you clearly wish to know just how well they work so what better way to show you than to use them on you."

He laughed at me, and I couldn't help but blush softly. This man was clearly insane yet something about him laughing and even smiling at me gave me butterflies.

"If you haven't noticed that was a joke, I know your products work I had great pain from your healing potion u injected me with. I'll be sure to bring them back alive just for you."

"Well then you know where to find it. Oh, and do me a favor either dispose of those towels or wash them please and thank you."

Glancing back up one more time I watched him as he made his way to the cauldron and grabbed the towels. As he turned and headed back to me, I quickly looked back down at the book scribbling something down in it so as to not let him know I was watching him.

"Here's 100 for the powder I'll be back tomorrow with the test subjects."

As he tossed a sack of gold on the counter and spoke. I would slowly look from my book to the sack and then to him

"You do realize that jar is only like 75s per jar and the cauldron is discounted cause some dicks put bloody towels in it so it's like 3c. Are you paying in advance for the other stuff or are you planning to grab more before you go?"

"This is advance payment for everything I will need and also for the show. I'm extremely interested in what your experiments do to those bastards."

I nodded softly and grabbed the gold off the counter, placing it in a drawer as he made his way to the front door. Speaking just before he walked out.

"Well till next time have fun and don't do anything I wouldn't do."
