All I Ever Wanted

Zhi xiang pulls me by the hand and smiles. He kneel downs and grabs something from his pocket. He pulls out a ring and asks, "Will you be my wife Xiaoxiao?"

"Of course I will."

He stands and pulls me close, "finally we can be together," Hanxing pulls on his pants and smiles. Zhi xiang carries him and kisses his cheek. "All of us. Let's go home."

We get into the car and start to ride home. My mother and Hanxing sit in the back while me and Zhi xiang sit in the front. We look at each other and smile.

"Xiaoxiao," my mom says. "I'm happy you and Hanxing are back."

"Ma," I smile softly at her then look at Hanxing. "We both are happy as well to be back."

In the car for a few hours, Hanxing fell asleep on my mother's lap while me and Zhi xiang talked about everything we missed about each other.

"Xiaoxiao, why didn't you just contact me? Why wait three years?"

"Zhi xiang, I've already told you. I was investigating."

We stop at a red light and he turns to me. "No, there has to be more than that."

"Fine. I was scared. Scared that you would still be mad that i didn't tell you where i was. That i left you for so long, leaving you alone. Trust me zhi xiang, i tried contacting you but every time i tried to..i would start crying. Finally, after three years of silence, I had enough courage to tell you."

"Xiaoxiao," he puts his hand on my cheek. "I wasn't mad at you. I was worried that I would lose the love of my life."

I softly push him away and smile, "look at the road idiot."

When we reached the house, Hanxing stepped out of the car and was amazed.

"Wow! I get to live here!"

Zhi xiang picks him up and carries him to the house. "Wait till you see your room! I've got you stuff from all around the world!"

They stopped by the door and looked back at me, waiting for me. My mother grabs onto my arm and smiles, "Your father would be so proud of what you've done. Now go be with your family."

I tear up and run to my son and husband, "I love you two so much."

"We love you too." Zhi xiang says as he kisses my head.

"Hurry dad! I want to go see my room!"

"Yes yes! Let's go."

They both run upstairs and to the bedrooms. My mom and I go inside and sit down. I look at her and take a deep breath. "Ma. I have to tell you something."

She looks at me and holds my hand. "What is it honey?"

"My father, he isn't my biological father is he?"

She lets go of my hand and sits up straight. "How did you find out?"

"I bumped into him while I was in America and next thing I know he's telling me about you. He was also the one who took care of my son while i was investigating," she looked away from me and seemed nervous. "Ma, what happened between him and you."

"I don't want to talk about him. I will never forgive his selfishness."

"Ma! You and father hid him well away from me but look where it led. Do you really want me to find out myself?"

"Alright, let me tell you then. Your biological father, Chen Yifeng, was my first love and your father's best friend. When I found out I was pregnant with you, he had already left without saying anything and I was alone. So his best friend gave me comfort and soon we fell in love and got married."

"Ma, you don't know why he left? Why don't you ask him? He may have a reason."

"Xiaoxiao, i think it's best to not know the reason why he left. That was many years ago. Now I have you and hanxing, let's just leave it at that. Okay?"

"Alright." I hugged her. "I love you ma."

"I love you too."
