When the doorbell rang, Neven was on the phone. He had stayed up late because the agency had warned him Vera was coming back. As such, he wanted everything to be ready for her before morning.
He had ordered the most comfortable office furniture he could find, and a TV and games for her to relax. He had repeated many times that the chair needed to be big and soft. Everything was going to be perfect!
However, when he opened his door, he winced. What was his wife doing there?
«Vera? I wasn't expecting you so soon...»
He glanced behind her, seeing the man who had accompanied her. He left her backpack on the floor and nodded before disappearing into the hallways.
Confused, he turned to Vera.
She looked tired and, at his words, she had got even paler. He hadn't even said anything, so why?
«Hey, what's the matter?» he asked.
