Outside the room, some vampires resented the new order that had been established. For them, and despite having Lilith's protection, the girl was no better than a walking blood bag with sizable benefits they planned to take advantage of. They had thought to subdue her and use her to secure their position, or even turn the situation around to their advantage. After being swept away like annoying bugs, they realized that their dreams of greatness had hit the hard wall of reality: she would never submit and be swayed by nothing and no one. As dawn approached, everyone returned to their rooms, brooding over their meager chances of being able to manipulate her as they pleased.
Voluntarily deaf and blind to everything that was not them, the trio resumed their old ways, coiled up against each other, taking advantage of the different possibilities offered by their new alliance to reconnect. The two men were thus able to fully understand how she had been able to see and smell her attackers during the trackers' various assaults, especially during their last attempt in this same room before she protected it from any intrusion. They similarly discovered that, although they had never seen her other than in human form, she was an accomplished shapeshifter whose potency varied depending on the form used. The mere fact that she had never used it against Estheniel or the trackers, even half-dead, demonstrated that her power far exceeded anything that had been said about her. For her part, Blue confirmed that the vampire and the demon were far from showing what they were really capable of if they got down to it. Lilith and Lucifer had offered her, besides their blood, the two only lineages capable of standing up to the First four as much by their capacities as by their respective powers. Many hours later, she awoke with a smile on her face. Snuggled between the vampire and the demon, she felt safe, protected. Starting to get hungry, she quietly stood up and walked to the kitchen, where she was surprised to find a giant with orange skin and fae eyes.
"Hello, young lady, you must be Meldiriel, protected from Lilith and Lucifer. Let me introduce myself, Lorsan Viersolas, Leifr's new businessman. My weapons are at your service: I am part of Estheniel's lineage. What would you like to eat and drink this morning?"
"Hello, Lorsan, nice to meet you. I am indeed Meldiriel, although you will hear some calling me Blue. I would start with a coffee and half a bag of blood, no matter the group, I am not picky. As for breakfast, I believe there are leftovers from last night and that will be fine with me. I eat everything and have no preference as to the temperature of my meals. " A shiver ran through her and she turned her head to see the vampire and the demon arrive. "Hello my angels, sleep well? It wasn't me who woke you up, I hope."
"Absolutely not, my Queen. Hello to you too. I see you have met Lorsan, he is one of the oldest in my lineage and was eager to meet you."
"Hello, my Lady. I can confirm that you did not wake us up. Sleep wise, it has been a long time since I slept so well."
"I plan to take advantage of the fact that the rest of the nest is dead for the world to practice and show you what you discovered when we bonded: my various shapes. I happen to hardly ever use them not seeing the usefulness, most of my enemies being humanoids. One of the advantages of crossbreeding is that I am absolutely not subject to the lunar cycle and that I can do this," passing into an anthropomorphic animal form then resuming her human form, "no matter what time of day or night, effortlessly."
She climbed off her stool and walked away from the counter before starting a series of shifting showing the extent of her mastery in this matter before returning to sit down, a smile on her lips.
"There are five of you now who know this little advantage which will come in handy when I teach your employees, Leifr. Each of them will have specific courses and more general courses that can be used by all."
"Lord Estheniel, I understand better why the ancestor wants her head as much as mine. Already he does not digest that his daughter is my mother, I cannot even imagine how much he can hate this wonder."
"If by the ancestor you speak of the Fae, I can inform you: he has put enough money into play so that all the so-called apprentice assassins in the world are willing to risk their lives to take mine. He also pushed the vice until bewitching demons, vampires, Lycans, and other creatures to accomplish this task and have my parents eliminated. Some survived, others were much less fortunate."
"Enough about the bad memories… my Lady, how do you feel this morning? I will get your bedroom door fixed asap so that you can rest easy. It would be a shame if your sleep were disturbed by them. sounds of those who would try, without success, to force the entry of your runes..."
"I've never felt so good, Leifr. Coming home has done me a lot of good, especially after clearing things up with the resident vampires. I guess after my demonstration yesterday I should have gained some respite but we know full well that the temptation to test this legend and the fact that you are a daywalker will attract more than one. I cannot promise to be indulgent towards them, refusing to be a victim. Regarding my various instructors, I will contact them within a few days: I would like to find my bearings before starting my training."
"If I may, Leifr, Lord Estheniel, it would be good if this young prodigy also got to know the bloodlines. Some are eager to meet her and that would also let her know who will actually help her in times of need. Expect some to refuse to be of service to her and some will want to test her powers, and if this young girl is willing to sit down to eat, her breakfast is ready."
"Thank you, Lorsan. Leifr, Estheniel, there are still some things we need to discuss. You should know that the triumvirate allows everyone to tap into the powers of the other two and breaks down the walls between our minds and thoughts. Emotions are felt by the trio, as are injuries, whether old or new. These changes will take time to adapt and to separate what is unique to each. For example, the burn on the breastbone comes from Leifr, and the tugging in the back is coming from me. You will be warned in case of an attack of trackers and will feel your energies lower if I fight by unintentionally tapping into your powers and vice versa my levels will drop if you tap into mine. Just as you will be able to judge for yourself whether I force or not during the lessons and demonstrations. It is imperative that you learn as soon as possible to control the fires and the bone armor, that is what cost me the most in energy. These two abilities are, paradoxically, those which will be the easiest to master for one as for the other. Speaking of bloodlines, Lilith warned me that two Astyrs will be joining this nest and that a squad has been assigned to protect me. Both should arrive within a few days, the same for the demonic equivalent, gift of Lucifer. They both went to great lengths to make sure I lived as long as possible. On the financial side, I'm going to need a businessman: it looks like I am the last survivor of the Lys de Thyr lineage following the Fae eradication campaign. I would like confirmation on this before making a decision."
"Wait, Blue, two Haurst will join this nest? And a Haursthein is assigned to your protection? Lucifer doesn't joke when he talks about protecting you. They are elites among the demons, chosen for their talents in all lineages."
"Two Weilgeist in this nest and a Weilsthein as a reinforcement. I repeat word for word what he told me. I confess that I do not understand the differences: Lucifer simply told me that you would educate me on this subject, Estheniel."
