Volume 1 Chapter 9 [ᴛʀɪᴀʟ ᴏꜰ ꜱᴘɪʀɪᴛ ɪ]

"....."

The room was silent for a few seconds after that incident. Everyone's expressions were having constant changes and soon everyone became calm. The person who was the leader called Deng Ning looked at me and nodded and others too followed. For some reason they didn't speak and that nod was like an acceptance.

"Hahahaha,"Seeing this funny scene the voice couldn't help but laugh loudly. "Hah, youth is something that one doesn't get to experience again. It was such a wonderful time where worldly matters were nothing to us."

"Let's get started now shall we? You see that sphere object on the table in front of you. Each of you touch that object and input Celestial Energy into it. If the sphere glows green then you pass. If you pass, stand across the table on the other side. If you fail, go back to where you were."

The disciples and Zen seeing this started talking amongst themselves and soon one of the girls went and touched the sphere. A few moments pass and the sphere was still the same.

"You failed," said that voice. The girl had a teary expression and came back to her spot. The others consoled her and soon one by one tried their luck in the trial. They didn't even know what they were being trialed for but they still did what ever was told. I saw Deng Ning, two boys and two girls with him who had passed on the other side of the table and others had failed. It was turn now.

I, who didn't know what the trial was about placed my hands on the sphere. I infused Celestial Energy into it and even after some time the sphere didn't react and the voice didn't even say anything. I lost hope and left to my previous position.

Just as I returned to my spot, the sphere glowed brightly in a golden colour. The whole room was bright for a few moments that we all had our eyes closed. It took some time for the glow in the sphere to disappear.

"Ho, Interesting. You pass kid." The voice said as if he was amazed. It's not everytime that an expert gets excited for something.

The others looked at me with their eyes wide open as I went to the other contestants who passed. The contestants who passed came towards me and greeted me. Maybe they saw my talent and wanted to get to know about me. Only on of them didn't speak to me and ignored me like I was some lowly being. It was that girl called as Zhou Mei. As she had ignored me, I too did the same and ignored her. She had a 'I can't believe you didn't greet this queen' expression. I suppose she had been spoilt by others because of her beauty and had never been ignored but she still had her noble aura around her and didn't show it outside that she was angry at me.

"Now that the first trial had finished, the Contestants who passed shall go through this door to another location. The ones who had failed can remain in their spots or leave if they wish." said the voice. The monstrous voice that was heard before became more refine now and it was like the voice of a middle aged man. As soon as he said these words, a door appeared from the ground made of the same emerald material. It opened and a grey coloured portal could be seen in it.

The disciples and I, who had never seen something like this were shocked. I had read about portals from the books and only a few still remains in the Lower Heavens left by the Ancient times. The formation masters are barely keeping it still flowing and they are very expensive to be used. The contestants who failed were looking at us with jealousy. Not everyone gets to use a portal in their life. Hell, even I didn't expect to use one in this life.

We each entered the portal one by one and after I entered it last the door closed and went back underground like it had never been there before. The disciples who were left after failing had left with gloomy expressions. They were cursing why did they fail. They were the young masters of this place. How dare we fail? They had never experienced the true cultivation world so they can't be blamed.

When I entered through the door. I was amazed at the site I was seeing. I could see the starry sky on all sides and the disciples in front of me. This was the void that one sees while using anything related to space Energy. They say that if you get lost in the void, it's almost impossible to return. The contestants all knew about this so they stood in one spot waiting for this journey to end.

Our minds were feeling dizzy from experiencing the Space Energy for the first time. Except Deng Ning, Zhou Mei and I, everyone else started puking as soon as we arrived at the location. Even though we didn't puke, we were still feeling sick and dizzy. I suppose this shows our capabilities.

>>Special Trial Room<<

The location we had arrived to was a closed space. The void crack which brought us here closed soon. We were in a room with thick dense energy. This place was like a dungeon room. The walls were made of stone including the floor. There were six red coloured cushions placed on the floor.

"Now I'll let you know what the previous test was about and what you will be doing here. The previous test showed that you all had the ability to unlock your Celestial Spirit Power. It means that although you weren't born with it, I can forcefully unlock it for you all. You all could cultivate your spirit and become formation masters with it. Now go sit on the cushions in a lotus position and close your eyes but don't start cultivating." Said the man behind the voice.

We did as we were told and sat on the cushion. After a few seconds of getting ready,

"This is going to hurt a bit, but bare with me and you will be rewarded." said the man.

Our minds were attacked using Celestial Spirit Energy by that man. Our Spirit(Soul) felt like it had been hit by an expert cultivator. The pain was intense and I was barely holding on. I was sweating so much. It someone else saw my expression right now, my nerves would all be out and my beautiful face was fully messed up.

When I heard Zena's voice telling me that this had to go on for 30 minutes. I was feeling like crying but I still told myself that if I can overcome this I will be strong. That's the only reason why I'm living right. My goal to become strong and giving my mother a good life. This process is only a small pebble in my journey to become stronger.

Around 15 minutes later...

Everyone else had awoken their Celestial Spirit Power except one boy who had died. His corpse looked like his life force had been sucked dry. This was the risk of failing. The others who had passed were looking at Zen with patience seeing that he was still in the process of unlocking.

Some more time later...

I opened my eyes and felt relieved atlast as the pain had gone now and I had gotten stronger. I could now feel the huge amount of Celestial Spirit Power in this room. They were in the form of energy just like the ones used for cultivation but these energy were used to temper your spirit. I looked around and it seemed that the others had finished earlier than me because they looked calm but still they were tired. I looked at the corpse but didn't feel anything for that poor brat.

My eyes felt heavy for some reason and the others too looked the same. We were all drowsy. Soon all of us fell asleep on the floor.
