10 Ch. 10 How To Track a Cellphone

Orion looked at Caliburn, his eyes scanning over it as he remembered the short battle with King Arthur. If that man was real, he could accept the possibility that anything he'd heard could be real.

"Have you figured out what it does?" Zephyr asked from behind, typing away at a computer in the city library.

"I know what it does, but I don't know how to activate it, aren't you the artifact expert? Why am I doing this shit?" Orion asked as he turned around to face him.

Zephyr nodded, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm researching its history, it seems the legend is actually Arthurian, pretty cool huh?"

Orion wasn't impressed. "Zephyr, please take this sword from me before I stab you in the chest. This is your domain, I invent cool tech and you use artifacts, that's the whole dynamic.

"What do I do?" Ash asked from the side, she was tapping away at her phone, even after Orion's warning that she couldn't text anyone where she was or what she was doing.

"Uhh... Eye candy? I don't know, you were spur of the moment to be honest."

"That's what I like about you, Orion. You're... Spontaneous," Ash said with a teasing smirk.

"Oh yeah? What would you do if I was actually spontaneous?" He replied, causing Ash to sit up and put her phone down.

Zephyr gagged behind his computer, seeing the two teenagers flirting right in front of him.

Ash's face scrunched up in fake confusion. "I'm not sure. Would that ever happen?"

Orion shook his head, and Ash giggled. "Okay, then, hypothetically I'd probably take you to a movie or something."

"That's it?" Orion said with a frown. "No surprises?" Orion asked, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

"You know what? I'd surprise you if you asked me to do something. Like…" Ash let her words trail, going back to her phone as Orion shrugged.

"Ugh, can you two cut it out, no one wants to hear about your sexual tendencies. We have important shit here. This artifact is heaven grade."

Orion's eyes shone at the statement, with the information Qece had searched, he had also gotten artifact rankings. Mundane, Unearthed, Etheral, Arcane, Heavenly, and Celestial.

"Why was a heavenly-graded artifact sitting in a random man-made tomb?" Orion asked, his eyes returning to normal.

"Maybe it was there on purpose," Ash answered before Zephyr could speak up.

"On... Purpose?"

Ash rolled her eyes. "This isn't a children's book Orion. The hero doesn't stumble upon a dungeon and find a great item first thing, that's not how the world works. Given everything you two have told me, how do we know it wasn't put there on purpose by someone a long time ago? King Arthur with it."

Orion looked at Ash as if she was speaking a foreign language. He didn't think of the possibility, but it made more sense than any of the theories he'd made up.

"Hmm, something to think about I guess-"

Glass shattered around them, flying into their skin and cutting them up as uniformed men jumped into the library building, old-looking guns pointed at them.

"Orion Jenson, you are being detained for conspiracy against the new world! Power down your enhancements and come quietly." A man said, holding a sniper behind the line of men, aimed directly toward them.

"And if I don't?" Orion asked, packing everything away in his dimension cube.

"You can't disarm us this time boy, these are weapons from the old days, we had a few in stock, completely different than the weapons you know…"

Orion nodded slowly, knowing he was telling the truth. "Is that what they called an M4 back in the day? Pretty cool to see archaic weaponry like that…" Orion said nonchalantly as Zephyr gritted his teeth.

"Stay where you are Tempest, our relic users are on standby to take you out, I'm sure you'd recognize a few, apparently you used to date on of them?" The old man said with a nasty smirk.

Zephyr looked shocked, but he quickly hid it away as he stood ready to fight. "You'll never take us alive, what we're doing is far too important…"

The man seemed to find his words amusing, even chuckling to himself as he held a rusted revolver, pointed right at Ash.

"I assume you were kidnapped girl? Thanks for helping us find these two by the way."

Ash gulped. "Fuck Ash, I told you not to use that stupid phone," Orion said with a sigh as Ash threw it to the side, putting her hands up.

"Even with those weapons, do you think you could stop both of us?" Orion asked, his eyes glowing.

Bam

Black blood trickled down Orion's cheek, caused by the bullet that had grazed against it and hit into the computer behind them.

"Warning shot boy, I have no orders not to kill you, but I think your father would want to see you, so I'll hold off unless you give me a reason…"

"My… Father?" Orion said coldly, understanding the situation.

"If you know my father… Then I suppose you know what I am huh?"Orion asked, smiling a bit as his cheek healed.

"Of course, since I was there when you were conceived… You dirty Synth."

Ash and Zephyr looked confused, but Orion just smiled widely, holding his hands up.

"Fine, go ahead and take us in, leave Ash though, I only brought her because I wanted some sexual relief on this little adventure."

Zephyr wanted to fight, but Orion shook his head. "Just trust me Zephyr, geez always so bloodthirsty."

Ash was detained and taken away from the scene, and soon enough, Zephyr and Orion had cuffs on their legs and arms, with a large collar on each of their necks.

As they left the city in the back of an Armored truck, Orion closed his eyes, completely relaxed. "A pit stop is just what I need…" He whispered to himself…

Howard Jenson sat in his cell, skinny and bruised from his mistreatment over the last week. He wondered about many things.

His son, Jack Jenson who was the prodigy of the new world, a boy destined for greatness.

He thought about Orion, like Jack, but so much lazier and unmotivated.

"Hey brother," The old man who had captured Orion said as he entered the room. "We got the kid, and even snatched The Dark Tempest with him, two threats in one…"

Howard looked up, gritting his teeth. "Leave Orion alone, isn't it enough that he has to live with everything we've done to him? Just let him be…" The man begged, his voice raspy and weak.

"Now, now Howard, keep speaking like that and I'll begin to think you actually love that thing… Which would be betrayal to the organization yes?"

"Fuck off Zeke, just looking at your face makes me want to vomit, bring me my son."

"Your son? He's dead isn't he? Perhaps you mean the Synthetic being we created to replicate your son? Surely that's what you meant right Howard!"

Zeke was in his face now, his eyes wide as he smiled maniacally at the weak and beaten man.

"Alas…" Zeke said as he took a step back. "Orion's not in any shape to see you anyhow. We're striking a deal as we speak…"

"A deal?"

"For the Nexus of course, find that… We rule everything."

Zeke laughed as Howard weakly fought against his ankle restraints.

'Damn you… Damn the world. If I get out of here, You're dead Zeke!'

Containment Center for Troubled Individuals

Orion looked at the large bolded sign as he was shackled from head to toe with iron chains. They had tried the newer versions, but he could easily deactivate them, so this was their solution.

Zephyr had been taken somewhere else hours ago, and he hadn't seen Ash since the library.

Despite all this, Orion still had a huge smile on his face.

"Wipe that smirk off your face Synth, or we'll show you how cocky fucks are dealt with," A guard said in his ear, sneering down at him as he patted his pocket.

"Doubt it'd be anything new," Orion said as he rolled his eyes. "Just lead me quietly and stop acting like you're in charge, in here there are only two people who can do anything to me…"
