The MoonLight Whisper

It has been a little over a week since I had shared a kiss with Barbara, nothing has happened between us since aside from the norm. Barbara wasn't a young school girl that was in love with a celebrity. She had just been acting on natural hormonal impulses like I had been. We were both adults, mind you I was a lot older than her, but she was 19 and a lot more mature than most girls her age due to her late night job of fighting crime.

Aquaman was set to meet with the league tomorrow and it reminded me that I had wanted to train a team that could later be the Justice League reserves. Upon further thinking, I thought it would be better to first take on a disciple of my own and then later make a secondary team. I've got plenty of time before the league even considers making one on their own anyway.

I decided it was better to create a Hero from scratch. If I trained a kid in martial arts among other things and equipped him with magical items and tech, I could end up creating a pretty cool Hero.

I had been observing a 13 year old kid on the streets of Moonlight City for a long while now. HIs name was Mayank Singh and he was a huge fan of Moonlight Knight. He was an Orphan that slept on the side of the road or wherever he could find shelter. Moonlight City only had one Orphanage and it was at full capacity at most times.

Mayank's parents had come from overseas and had died in Moonlight City when they were caught between the crossfire of nearby gangs, luckily both his parents were innocent and he was able to see them on the last harvest moon. He had first captured my interest whenever I saw him rescue a cat from a sewer drain and then fed the cat what little food he had. It was a very selfless act.

Today I was in costume patrolling when I had heard a scream from a nearby alleyway and went to investigate. Mayank had put himself between a kid that was younger than him and what appeared to be a man made of mud. The kid he was trying to save looked like a street kid just like him. I had arrived just as the man made of mud was about to slam his huge fist that had taken the shape of an anvil down on his head.

I had encountered Mayank on many occasions in the past as he had gone out of his way to help where he could, even though he didn't have the means to do so. I had always saved him from the shadows, but I was done observing the kid and thought it was time to see if he wanted to become my disciple and maybe later join the teen titans when it is formed alongside the other league members protégés.

I shot a tiny ki beam at the mud man and temporarily grabbed his attention away from the kids and then rushed towards him. A hole had appeared where I had shot the beam on the mud mans body, only to fill itself back in within seconds. The mud man rose high above me and sloshed himself down at me like an ocean wave in response.

I had suddenly found myself surrounded in mud, but thankfully I wasn't human and I could go long periods of time without air. The mud man obviously didn't know that and was trying to suffocate me. Using only my strength, I tore the mass of mud off of me in pieces until I was free.

The mud man realizing I was stronger than he first thought, decided to run down the street. I had his ki signature, so I wasn't worried about losing him. I flew up into the sky and looked down at a nearby crowd of people and found him. He no longer looked like a mud man, but a normal person. He could shapeshift, I knew who I was dealing with now. It was Clayface. I had already had my suspicion due to his appearance, but this confirmed it for me.

I could try a bigger ki blast, but that would probably kill him. Beating the crap out of him would be pointless because he's made of clay and if I hit him hard enough I could kill him also. His weakness's were water and electricity, but sadly I saw no sources of either near us.

Without much options, I tried my magical eye beams for the first time on a real person. I built up a small amount of ki behind my eyes and shot it out towards him. Part of Clayface had hardened up like dry mud and he toppled over shortly after. He was out cold. I had no idea what I had just done to him, but he appears to still be alive and that was good enough for me. I picked Clayface up and flew him to my house and then threw him into a cell. He will probably be very surprised when he wakes up.

After that I flew back and landed in front of Mayank and spoke. "Kid, do you want to train to be my first disciple"?

Mayank startled by my sudden voice, shrieked in terror and then passed out similar to how Clayface had just done a bit ago. He hadn't even seen me yet, he had just heard my voice. I was slightly offended, but I picked him up and took him to my house. If he becomes my disciple, he's going to need to toughen up. I'll be sure to show him what real fear is, so that he never passes out from something so dumb in the future.

I looked through the systems domain shop and bought a cheap room for him to stay in and then placed him on the bed inside it. Even though he hadn't agreed to be my disciple yet, I went ahead and started to design a costume for him within the actors wardrobe. The system is pretty flexible and had let me assign a costume to him.

The costume I designed for him resembled Candle Jack from an old cartoon called Freakazoid. The only difference was that I made it all charcoal black with white stitching, leaving the eyes glowing white, and then I added a small white crescent moon on the center of the chest.

The kid was too kind and if he was going to be my disciple, I wanted him to be feared. The costume made up for what he lacked most. I had added voice magic to his costume like I had done mine, only every time he talks it will sound like he's whispering with a slight echo. It was pretty creepy.

If he agreed, I planned to start his training right away.
