Tensions

"Thank you, sir," Elise said as she climbed into the car.

Brian nodded closing the door softly, he walked around to the driver's side getting in. After a moment of sort of awkward silence he glanced at Elise "shall I turn on some music?"

"Sure, what are you listening to at the moment, sir?" Elise asked.

Brian pressed the play button on the stereo and his mixed playlist began to play.

"Oh, Daughtry," Elise said with a small smile.

Brian glanced at her. "Do you listen to them?"

"No, but my girlfriend does, she dragged me to a few of their concerts when we were roommates back in college."

"Girlfriend as in, romantic?" Brian asked.

"Oh, no. Girlfriend as in a friend."

Brian nodded slowly "you have to ask nowadays."

"Yes. How are things with you and Jessica?"

"Oh, that has long since been over."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"She wasn't my type."

Silence fell between them, again.

"So, what music do you listen to?" Brian asked after a moment.

"Pop mostly."
