Trouble in Paradise

As the ship falls I look at Oryza. She hasn't used any hexes or spells that may help her. So I need to do something and fast. I close my eyes and try to feel the air around me. I try to trigger a hex or even a spell but it doesn't work. I swing my palm at the air and use my strength to move so that I'm standing on the glass. I look through the glass and see that we have a few seconds left till we hit the ground. I jump from the glass to the pilot's chair and push off of it. I reach out to her knowing this is gonna be close. I stretch my hand out to her for her to grab. I grab her just as the plane hits the ground. The impact sends me to the ground forcing all of the air out of my lungs. I hate to admit it but I know my actions could have got me killed.

"How do you feel?" I whisper with her in my arms. Hearing it causes her to push herself off of me and hop to her feet.

"I could've handled myself." She states glaring at me.

"You could've died!" I shout shooting up from where I was laying. I begin to feel lightheaded and everything starts to spin. I feel myself tip over but I can't stop myself from landing in a pile of broken chairs and ship computers.

"You almost did." She's standing over me looking at my injuries. "I'm supposed to protect you." She tells me while searching around us. I can hear the hurt in her voice and It makes me want to cover my ears. She looks at me and I look up, staring into her eyes. She looks like she's going to cry. But, she turns away and grabs a silver cube and a gun out of the rubble. She puts the gun in her back pocket and the cube in a bag I didn't know she had. The bag is like a backpack but it only has one strap. It fades into her jacket and then it's gone.

"I wish I had some headphones right now," I mumble. She laughs at me and pulls out the cube. I look closely at it and notice that it's split into a bunch of smaller cubes. She taps the top and the cube splits into its smaller sections. She meticulously places the cubes in a circle. In the only part of the ship that doesn't have rubble in it. In the center of the circle is one of the pieces. It looks different from the rest of the other pieces. It's gold and has weird symbols engraved in it on all sides. The symbols are a shade of black that feels like it could pull me inside and it would never let me go. The pieces begin to float and shake violently. They continue to shake and drop to the ground as they begin to grow and shift into different shapes. One of them is a sword. But, what catches my eye is that eight of the cubes turned into orbs of liquid metal. She sits down and closes her eyes. Seconds later the orbs all go in separate directions.

"What are you doing?" I ask surprised. She hushes me and continues whatever it is she was doing. Shadows start consuming the ship to the point that I can't see anything past my feet.

I smell metal in the air. As dust is sent into the air around us. The dust in the air makes it harder for me to breathe and causes my eyes to water. I wipe my eyes with my wrist and I get up.

"Oryza, I forgot to check on Null!" I shout as I limp towards my room. Sleeping in my bed is a baby dragon. He has blue and red scales all over his body. But unlike most dragons he doesn't have wings. In fact he has claws that are perfect for digging. But that's why I like him he contrast me and my specialty wind magic. I grab him and walk back to Oryza. She puts a collar on him and his body molds itself to look and feel like a puppy. His fur is black but the fur on his stomach is white. He comes up to my knees in height and his ears are standing at attention listening for any sounds that could possibly be dangerous.

"We need to leave for now Paku." she tells me. She looks sad as she looks around us. As we walk away from the wreckage. I begin to wonder how we're going to cover our tracks. Sure we already have fake identities but how are we going to get a new place to live. As I'm still thinking about it. I walk through a barrier of liquid metal. When I turn around it is shaped like a part of the mountain and camouflaged to look like it has always been there. I pick up a stick and hit it against the metal. The metal doesn't bend or flow at all. Since it's solidified I decide to continue to follow Oryza who was still walking without me.

The pain in my leg has completely faded by the time we were a mile away from the crash. So I start running. Null follows me and Oryza stops me as we close in on a village.

"My human name is Violet." She tells me. The look on her face is serious and makes me wonder if she thought that we were on vacation.

"You do remember that were here because I've been banished right?" I ask her as we make our way towards the village with nothing to use as currency.
