The Torture

Matts walked into a restaurant and sat down with a newspaper in his hand, looking at the situation report of the day.

"Welcome to Humphry Restaurant, sir. What can I offer you?" A feminine voice suddenly brings him back to reality from the intense study of the newspaper

"Water, just water will do," said Matts. The waiter nodded and headed back to get the order.

He knew the detective wouldn't ditch him by not coming to the said location, but he was getting late. His phone suddenly rang, and he took the call

"Come outside the restaurant, and you will see a tree on the left side of your view. Meet me there," the unknown caller said and stopped the call. Matts stood up from his seat, dropped the cash for the water he bought at the table, and left the restaurant.
