Someone is Coming

Cassandra was quiet. She could not know how to make Duke Salvador believe her

'Should I tell you that I have tried using the instructions on my own power?'

'No, I can not do that. It will mean that I have to tell the Duke that I can read minds.'

'What if Duke Salvador take me to the Emperor and Empress.'

'No, I can not let that happen.'

'Should I tell him that I have made Amy practice it over the years?'

'But Duke Salvador had seen it with his own eyes that I was teaching Amy for the first time.'

Cassandra sighed as she looked at the Duke who was absent-minded. His red eyes were glowing brightly. But before Cassandra could come to a conclusion she heard a voice that she was over-familiar with.

[Where did the Duke go?]

[I think he went here]

[Should I search in the old abandoned book area?]

[I think the Duke came here to search some ancient book that he is curious about]

[Is Duke Salvador searching for a book on ancient welfare techniques to take inspiration for his next strategy?]

[That is most likely true Maybe that's why he did not pay any attention to me]

Cassandra listened to Princess Valeria's thoughts from afar. She was frightened. She looked at the Duke and then at the book in front of her. If Cassandra's assumptions were right, Princess Valeria will read the needlework techniques in the book just like the Duke.

'How funny that would be' Cassandra thought. She could imagine Princess Valeria's face when she saw Duke Salvador sitting in a quiet place reading needlework. Won't Princess Valeria's impression of the Duke be shattered?

It was fun to think about but Cassandra knew that if she was caught then her face full of misery would be more memorable for Princess Valeria.

Cassandra has no time to think as she could hear Princess Valeria's thoughts loud and clear. She held Duke Salvador's hand in a hurry as she pulled him towards the back end of the library. She went deeper as she into the darkness as she pushed the Duke into the corner behind a narrow space between the shelves.

"Wh ….. What ." Aiden asked in shock. He was never manhandled like this before but for some reason, he moved as Cassandra wanted him to.

"Shhh …." Cassandra held a finger on his lips in a hurry making him quiet. Her other hand rested on his chest trying to hide them both in a narrowed space.

Aiden's eyes glowed in the dark. His red orbs looked at Cassandra who was looking out in a state of shock.

'What is she doing?'

'Do I look like a person who would simply listen to her?'

'She is so small yet so daring at times'

Aiden saw Cassandra's cornflower blue eyes widened, looking like shining silver in the dark. His hands wanted to extend it and touch it. It was an impulse that he could not control.

Duke Salvador extended his hand but Cassandra thought he was trying to move. She was irritated as she pushed him further, coming near him in the process.

Cassandra shook her head looking at Aiden before she turned her head to look out.

Duke Salvador was confused.

'Why did the fifth Princess bring me here.'

'What is she planning?'

'Is she trying to distract me away from the book?'

Aiden was distracted. He looked the way Cassandra was looking at but saw no one. He could not sense anything from there and his senses were strong. But Aiden knew that something was bothering Cassandra. She was afraid of something. Rather than be afraid, Cassandra wanted to avoid something

As Duke Salvador looked at Cassandra trying to figure out the reason behind her actions, he realized how close she was to him.

Aiden could feel Cassandra's breath on him in the closed space as she swallowed. Her light fragrance filled his senses as Aiden tried his best to concentrate.

'What is happening to me?'

Cassandra's skin that touched his lips, tempted Aiden to bite her. It was an unknown feeling to him as it had never happened before. Aiden did not know how to deal with the situation but Cassandra's presence was infectious to him. Her hand against him looked like that of a small animal against a beast. He wanted to compare it with his.

'I want to touch her.'

'Why?'

Duke Salvador wondered. Was it because he was never this close to a human being before or was it because of the atmosphere, Aiden did not know but his control on his urges loosened a little.

'Just a little touch won't hurt.'

'The fifth Princess touches me as she pleases, then why can't I?'

Even though Duke Salvador had such thoughts, he did not act on them. He just kept staring in a daze until he heard light footsteps coming his way.

'Who?' Duke Salvador thought but his hand held Cassandra's waist as he pulled her towards him into the darkness. His gaze followed the fifth Princess as he realized something important

'How did the fifth Princess know someone was coming?'

Duke Salvador knew Cassandra was hiding something but he had no idea what it was. He had felt it time and time again even now but she was a mystery to him. But before Aiden could say a word, he heard the footsteps getting closer. Cassandra's heartbeats were becoming more audible to him as their distance decreased because of his hold on her.

"Duke, are you here?" Princess Valeria's words roamed through the section, making Cassandra's spine shiver.

He could feel the uneasiness in the fifth Princess's body radiating like an aura.

"Duke Salvador?"

"Duke?"

Princess Valeria's voice moved further towards her as her footsteps stopped. Cassandra swallowed in fright.

[Whose book is this?]

"It's on needlework." Princess Valeria murmured under her breath but in the quiet section, her voice was still heard.

[Someone is here?]

[Who?]

Princess Valeria closed the book as she looked at the two chairs in front of it that showed that someone was sitting there.

Princess Valeria's eyes narrowed as she looked in the space at random as she said in a commanding tone. "Whoever is here, come outside now."

Cassandra's forehead was covered in sweat as her hands trembled. Her hand on Aiden's chest tightened.
