aliyah felt much the same : used up and worn out. after her engagement to philip fell through, all ahe could think of was his wayward way of seeming to want to give her everything she could want, without ever having even a clue. after her mother prompted her to think what she had wanted with her life, she realised that she was on death's course. all she did was sob inside, and earnestly want for more. she knew philip was not her future ; her past seemed longing for him.
