42. Stare down

"Bro I'm tellin you Rayne was just tryin to sell me pills this whole time," Albert repeated to Elliot and Sheree as they approached the tournament mat.

Sheree heard the words coming out of his mouth but they didn't make any sense to her. How could the only female friend she had ever actually made be fraudulent? It had to be a lie. Rayne was the most genuine person she had ever met. If she couldn't trust her, was anything real? Was what she and Elliot had just going to implode suddenly as well? She gripped Elliot's hand tightly as she considered that.

"She probably here right now gettin close to her next mark," Albert said. He looked tired, and angry.

"Where are you?"She texted Rayne.
