Entry 29 - My other half (Haato)

Ever since I came to the inn, Haachama has been very quiet. She barely came out for a while, only surfacing when she got the urge to cook or something. But other than that, she just stayed in our head, which was odd because we already agreed to share our body, be as one, to co-exist. That was the point of our little battle, but after we came to the inn she basically gave me free reign over our body.

I was getting worried and talked to the others about it, and while they gave some good advice none of them worked when I tried using them on Haachama.

Seeing as nothing was working, Coco-chan directed me to Kyrell who she said would be able to help me. I'll admit at first I doubted anything would work if none of the girls' suggestions worked either.

So Kyrell took on my problem and took me to a small grotto somewhere I don't know and told me to think about Haachama while looking at the pond that was in the middle of the place.

I did as I was told and the water began to rise from the pond before Haachama appeared floating out of it. According to Kyrell, this was a projection of the real Haachama that I shared my body with. We could see her because we were in a grotto meant for communication between anybody regardless of where they were, it didn't matter so long as a person's image is in the caller's mind they will appear.

Anywho, Haachama was confused as to why we were separated so I needed to explain to her what was happening.

Now that she was out, I basically grilled her into talking, but she was pretty tight-lipped. She just kept looking away and dodging questions, or even just refusing to speak. I was at my wit's end, I just wanted to know if she was ok, Haachama may be crazy but she's a part of me and I get worried for her sometimes since she pushes the boundaries a lot.

I thought that her avoiding everyone and just staying inside was worrying and I was right!

Even though I couldn't get her to talk, Kyrell did. He knew the moment he saw Haachama knew that she was disappearing.

I was shocked but was even more confused with what Kyrell said. What did he mean by disappearing?

I didn't want Haachama to disappear.

Well, he explained that Haachama was technically born from my deteriorating mental state while I was away from Japan, as such she was born to take those burdens for me. But now that I'm relaxing in the inn, she's no longer needed.

When I heard that I started to beg Kyrell to help us, I didn't want Haachama gone so I kept begging and begging, but Haachama said there was nothing we could do and that it was good because it meant I was healing, but I didn't want that! I just wanted Haachama by my side!

I even cried and dropped to my knees when her projection started to disappear. I actually thought I lost her then and there.

Luckily it wasn't all doom and gloom, Kyrell told me there was a way to keep Haachama from disappearing and it was a simple solution really.

All I had to do was acknowledge Haachama as a separate entity from me and not just a part of me. Apparently even if we decided to agree on co-existing it didn't erase the fact that we were one person, we needed to be separated, fully separated, and the only way to do that was to give Haachama her own body she could inhabit. By doing this it keeps her existing in the world, but she can still return to me anytime.

If it meant that Haachama could stay then I would do anything, so I said yes and went along with Kyrell's plan.

We went back to the inn and asked Shion-chan to provide us a body for Haachama, she agreed and basically grabbed us one of her many mannequins, why does she have so many?

Anywho, after this Kyrell, with the help of Shion-chan managed to get Haachama into her new body and boy it was an experience, I felt as though a part of me was being stretched out and separated. But it was all worth it since Haachama now became her own person!

Now Haachama and I are living in the inn together and she actually acts a lot calmer than I thought, she still eats bugs, but that's just normal at this point.

So long as Haachama is here with me, I feel like I can go against the world. I need to thank Kyrell at some point, but I don't know what to give him, maybe food? Yeah, that sounds nice.

Ok so, if you're a bit of an older reader you may remember a little project I did called Holo-Worlds... well, this is actually a plot thread from that story, or at least it was planned to be a part of that story. I decided to stick it in here, because why not? This was one of those mini-arcs I planned that I thought would be a good tale to explore considering Haachama's own little horror show a year ago.

The ending of the original was way sadder, with Haato getting her mind broken since she lost a part of herself, regressing to a child-like persona where she was dependant on Mio and the MC of Holo-Worlds like they were her parents. Here the conclusion is swift and sweet.

Now moving on to the last topic of the day, starting next week, the last 5 entries are going to be published before I officially end Caretaker, if you have questions, feel free to ask.

So, thank you all for reading and I'll see you all next week.
