The frozen princess

Once upon a time...

The forgotten ocean ridge of the Nereid Clan.

Without anyone to keep her company, a young mermaid that clearly did not exceed the age of fourteen knelt beforea strange crystal tomb. She placed her hand over her heart and slowly closed her eyes, even the gentle when caused her to sway, proving just how fragile she was.

She was was sad, lonely and broken… But to her, that kind of existenial pain was not worth mentioning, it was nothing compared to the day she had lost her little sister; her sole mental support and reason for living.

"Rhea, why did you leave? It has already been two years and on some days the pain is worse than the day you were lost to us. I miss you so much, sister...so much that it hurts."

"Wait for me, just wait a little while longer…when I have fully paid my debt to our family, I will join you and we will never separate again."

She gently continued to talk as if her sister was quietly present and listening. "Rhea… I want to be strong, but I dont know how to carry on without you. You were my advisor, one of the wisest beings I haver ever met.

Wiser than mom and dad, wiser than all the elders.

*Sigh*

When i find you again we will no longer owe anyone anything. We will be able to go anywhere we want and see all the sights we couldnt see before, eat everything we want to eat; we can finally be whatever we want to be.…"

"When the time comes, I'll protect you and you'll protect me.… Okay…"

"Rhea, I… saw him… The one called Nrohyu, who I am to marry. Father says he is mighty lord who will protect me forever, but when I saw him my soul suddenly shivered in intense warning…"

"But no one cares that I feel this way. Father mother, those damned brothers of mine, all the see in me is a political tool, and sacrificing me to the toxin immortals is the nest way to maximise my "value."

"However it no longer matters. When I have become his wife and birthed him an heir, thag is when my debt will be fully paid, and that is when i shall voluntarily leave this world to join you"

"So please, until then… wait for me…"

"Sister… You are all I have … You really are… all I have…"

Her hand stroked the door of the tomb. Hidden within behind that door and nestled within the dark of the tomb was a peculiar sight.

Within a cocoon of a deep cerulean blue crystal, a young woman rested.

She had a youthful body, but also impressive curves.

Although her clothes were quite large, they still could not hide the alluring body that caused one's mind to wander. Her eyes were closed, and she seemed to reside in deep slumber, however a holy and sacred unlike any other surrounded her, conflicting with the demonic one of her devil god clan.

As if she had somehow sensed her sisters presence, a warm smile drew itself on her face.

Present day

With the same hazy look, as if she was in a sad dreamscape, Xara stood before her sisters tomb.

"I used to come here every day and tell her all my struggles and pain in the vain hopes that one day she would respond to me.

But soon the days became months and the months became years. It became harder for me to pretend that she was somehow with me.

Then it was too painful to come at all." Despite distrusting Canaan a great deal, Xara was unable to to stop the ache in her heart and poured out everything she had held within.

Perhaps it was because being back here made her vulnerable, but maybe it was because of the strange connection she now felt with him.

After all no matter how much humiliation he had brought her, he would still always be her first man.

"Maybe you couldn't stand it because you were alone.

Now that you have me with you, things are naturally different." Canaan remarked confidently.

Xara didn't respond and yet a flurry of emotions surged through her heart. She still hated him, however besides the hatred existed another budding emotion, and his words had caused it to stare.

At the very least, the mere fact that she had brought him here showed that she already had a measure a trust for him.

Canaan waved his palm and the tomb dissolved into particles of dust.

Both he and Xara's figures flashed with a crimson light and they were suddebly infront the figure clad in blue crystal.

Rhea slowly appeared in Canaans field of vision. She was dressed in the traditional garb if mermaid which walked the thin line betweeen conservative and revealing.

Her fascinating pure white hair, a rarity in the current world, was adorned with several crystal beads of remarkable neauty. A fine veil of silk curtained down from the crest of her forhead, completely hiding the expressions of her face.

Her pure white robe was decorated in the with strange devil symbols of the house of oceanus.

They were strange because while most devil symbols radiated power, these ones prayed for the coming of fortune, tranquility and peace.

On the silk belt of her robes hung several pearls; both charms to aid her fate and adornments to her beauty.

But even the beauty of the rare gems and silk that made her clothes paled before her own.

Canaan's eyes quivered as he beheld the woman in front of him.

Despite his bitter hatred for Heide, he had to admit that she was truly the most beautiful woman he had come across.

And yet somehow the girl Infront of him actually did not lose out to her in the slightest.

Her allure was beyond his imagination and he failed to find the words to describe her.

Her perfect porcelain skin and sculpted face did not take on the usual creamy hue of the Nerieds but were as white as snow under the dim lights in the tomb. Her lips were like the petals of the world's most delicate and shapely flower and the rest of her features were simply perfect to a divine degree.

Canaan sucked in a cold breath as his aura began to violently fluctuate. A killing intent and hatred, both born out of nothing were suddenly birthed in his heart and directed towards the frail girl.

'What is happening to me?' Canaan thought at the buzzard occurrence.

Suddenly he wanted to kill this frail girl who already sat on the fence between life and death in the cruelest way possible way.

Even when he was mortal, his devil emperor soul still felt that all the devil gods around him were ants and did not react to any of them.

And yet somehow this girl had triggered a fierce repulsion from his soul. His every instinct told him to end her before her eyes opened.

He was aware of what he was feeling, it was the sensation any devil emperor would feel in the presence of their opposites: The creation gods.

'But that can't be...she is of a demonic bloodline...this is completely impossible....could it be...' Realization immediatelty struck Canaan's eyes.

"What's wrong?" Xara asked after noticing Canaan's abnormal state.

"Your sister...." Canaan began to question.

"Was she reclusive since she was young? Cold to everyone besides you? As she grew older did she display a wisdom that was far beyond her years and did her power increase beyond the limits of common sense? Then when she hit her tenth birthday did she experience a sudden intense internal injury that could have resulted in her vomiting out blood? Then she should have entered this coma right....." Canaan asked, however he was already aware of the truth of his deduction after witnessing Xara's response.

Xara's eyes quivered in seven parts shock and three parts fright an mistrust. "How do you know of all of this?" She suddenly asked.

"Because she and I suffer the same fate. And from the looks of it, she has suffered it far longer than I have." Canaan said as a strange pitying expression drew itself on her face.

Xara continued to look at him with a worried, pensive expression. "She did not know the meaning of his words, nor did she want to know. The only question on her mind was: "If you know all this the do you know what happened her?"

Canaan favored her with a strange smile. "I do. And you do too.

You have known it all this time, for your instincts told you from the very moment she was born.

The true reason why she was shunned by all except you, the only one who transcended the bond of hatred she formed with you lot.

You feel it right? Even now, buried underneath the affection you feel; the desire to rip her apart."
