First day of school after holidays and I was sweating my way to the dining table for breakfast. Two weeks had passed and today was the day she threatened to expose us. I was conflicted between wanting to tell Ryan and hiding the truth completely.
“Noah, you alright, son?” I heard dad’s voice which made me snap my head at him.
“Y-yeah… yeah, I am.” I absentmindedly nodded my head, stuttering because words were stuck in my throat.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and then my mother’s soothing voice followed. “Cupcake, you don’t look like you’re fine. Is something bothering you?”
I contemplated if I should tell her or not but then decided against it because even my mind was in a battle. One part was saying that she was bluffing and the other was saying… well it wasn’t saying anything at all. It was just screaming in panic.
“No. Nothing’s bothering me.” I said before grabbing the glass of juice and gulping it down.
