Chapter 4

They kissed one final time before stepping out of the car. Her gown was a mess as a result of what happened at the dance, but she seemed to have forgotten all about that now.

Kyle knocked on the door and Mr. Sue was there to open the door.

"Welcome Kyle how are you, hope you had a good time at prom. Mr. Sue asked, shaking his hand.

"Yes sir, we did," Kyle said smiling.

Mrs. Sue who was upstairs came to see them,

"Hi Dad," Malia said, kissing her dad on the cheek.

"How's my lovely daughter this evening? Mr. Sue asked.

"Malia! What in heaven's name happened to your dress?" Mrs. Sue asked, looking angry and upset.

"It's my fault, Mrs. Sue, I accidentally poured a drink on her dress while we were dancing," Kyle said, jumping to Malia's defense.

"It's ok sweetheart, it's not that bad," Mrs. Sue said putting on a smile.

"We'll leave you too now, Malia, make sure to lock the doors when you both are done" Said Mr. Sue as he beckoned his wife to follow him upstairs.

"Goodnight Dad," said Malia happily.

"Good Mr. And Mrs. Sue," Kyle said, waving to them.

"Goodnight" They replied in unison.

Malia was left alone with Kyle at the door, they stared at each other for a while before Kyle broke the silence.

"Goodnight," He said.

She hugged him tight whispering the word under her breath "Goodnight"

She kissed him before shutting the doors slowly behind her. Kyle walked back to the car feeling fly, he hit the jackpot this time he thought to himself as he walked back to his car, entered the car, and drove home. His house was just two streets away from Malia's, when he pulled into the driveway, he tried as much as possible not to wake up the whole house. He snuck inside through the back door but was caught unawares by the grandfather who was having a beer.

"Going somewhere young man," the grandfather asked.

"Grandpa! I didn't know you were still awake" Kyle said looking surprised.

His father came out of his room looking sleepy, he had heard voices so he came to take a look.

"Dad! You still awake" he said referring to his father. "Kyle you're back, welcome, how'd it go? He asked Kyle rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"It went well, what about Mom?" Kyle asked.

"Oh! Your mother called, she said she working a night shift" Kyle's father said.

"Ok Dad, I'm going to bed now, goodnight and goodnight Grandpa," Kyle said climbing up the stairs.

Kyle's father seemed to have forgotten he gave his son some condoms to use, but that was a discussion for another, for Kyle that was the best night of his life. He loved Malia and didn't want to lose her.

At school their bond grew stronger, a lot of boys try to win Malia over but she told them she had a boyfriend and all of them did back off whenever they found out who her boyfriend was. Kyle had been a notorious bully in the whole school before he met Malia, after he encountered her his whole life changed as he began to take his studies more seriously and never bullied anyone again, he didn't pick up fights like before except where he had to defend himself.

Malia and Kyle's relationship grew each day, they went everywhere together, visited each other's houses, and spent quality time together. Both their parents knew about their relationship and approved of it.

One day Malia paid Kyle a surprise visit. She was close to his house when she saw another girl coming out of Kyle's house with Kyle walking behind the girl, instantly she became furious. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, Kyle had hugged the girl before she left.

"Ok thank you, see you in school," the girl said smiling at Kyle.

Kyle raised his head and saw Malia in the distance, he smiled and called out to her.

"Hey babe," he said.

Malia didn't even answer, she turned around and headed home angrily not wanting to talk to Kyle.

"Malia, Malia," said Kyle calling her name, but she didn't answer. He ran after to find out what the problem was.

"Malia, I'm talking to you," he said, grabbing her arms when he finally caught up with her.

"Let me go" she revolted, " who is she? One of your lil brats?" Malia asked. "Kyle how could you, I trusted you," Malia said crying.

"Listen, it's not what you think, ok, I can explain," Kyle said, trying to soothe her.

"Explain what? I saw you hugging her." Malia said, still crying.

"Could you at least come with me to the house and hear me out without jumping to conclusions?" Kyle said.

Malia had to listen this time, she followed Kyle inside the house and he shut the doors. Kyle was the only one at home, his dad traveled to Germany for a business meeting, and his mom who was a nurse wouldn't be home until late evening. His grandfather had to travel to Arizona to see his brother.

"So what's your excuse?" Malia said still fuming

"Ok, that was Emily from school, she's a junior, and she lives just down the street. She was having difficulty with her math assignment, her mother and my mom are close friends, it was my mom who begged me to see to it that I assist her with it." Kyle paused to watch the reaction on Malia's face then continued. "Her mom gave her my number so she could call me to find out if I'd be free for her to come over," Kyle said.

"Oh, my gosh babe I'm…" Kyle cut her short

"I'm not done yet, yeah I know you saw her hugging me, but it doesn't mean anything. She only hugged me because she was happy the assignment had been done and she was in a hurry to go meet her boyfriend. That's why you saw her take off like that" Kyle said.

"Oh! I didn't know" Malia said with a sorry look on her face. "I'm sorry Kyle," she said, going to hug him, staying in his arms.

"I'm sorry too, it's not your fault, it's mine. I shouldn't have made you feel so insecure" he said as he kissed her forehead.

"I love you," Malia said.

"I love you too," Kyle said.
