The surrounding nature calmed her down. She took deep breaths, shaking out her hands and trying to clear her head. Aiden didn't make a sound from behind her, which she was grateful for.
Marley felt...overwhelmed. She felt like the entire world was spinning off its axis. One second, she was sitting there on the four wheeler talking to Aiden about his brother and enjoying the view, and the next, they were going 60 an hour, blasting through the woods like a rocket. She wouldn't have cared if she was prepared. If she knew exactly what he was going to do, she might have liked it. But sprung on her was one of her triggers.
She felt for the tree in front of her, pressing her palms into the bark and liking the roughness of it. Real. Very, very here and very, very real. She took about ten more breaths until she finally felt put together enough to turn around.
