Chapter 5: The stage has been set

Tyra made herself comfortable at her bestie's place. The whole place was organized, a stark contrast to her own place. Things were usually scattered around and....she hit her head to stop her brain from going further. She looked at Ariel, her eyes turning gossipy. Ariel looked arched a brow at her.

"What is it?"

"Who's he? How do you know him?"

"I don't know him. This is my first time seeing him".

Tyra rolled her eyes skywards and scoffed.

"'You're finally back', that was what he told you".

Ariel paused. She seemed to have forgotten. "I don't really know him".

Tyra smiled. She nodded her head and began opening the bag of potato crisps. She stuck some strands into her mouth. "Leave him to me. I'll find out about him for you".

"No need. He's not my priority now. I'm going to get really busy for some time and I don't have time ".

Tyra stuck out her tongue playfully and kept her mouth busy with the crisps.

The boardroom was deathly silent leaving the voice of the presenter to be heard. No one dared to move an inch as the room was engulfed in an icy coldness. When the presenter was done, he looked at the president for his judgement.

Rex Forbes slanted his eyes at the analysis and remained silent. Few beads of perspiration formed on the man's forehead.

"The analysis is correct", his deep voice echoed. Everyone regained their normal breath. The presenter's leg felt weak and he almost fell to the floor.

More proposals came up and Rex listened to the directors of various sectors start their points.

Some minutes later, the meeting ended and the directors walked out orderly.

Rex's assistant walked in and gave a slight bow. He placed a brown wrapped envelope on the table.

"Boss, this is what you asked for", he said and took a step back.

Rex nodded and took the envelope. He tore the string that tied the envelope close. The contents were taken out one by one.

A devilish smirk danced on his lips as he looked them over.

"The stage has been set", he said under his breath.

His assistant, Jim, broke out in cold sweat. He instantly began pitying the ones who had provoked his Boss.
