Chapter 25: Someone I've come to fancy

After breakfast, Tyra left for work at her company. After she graduated from the varsity, she started a small company that deals in jewelry of all types. It wasn't so grand but she didn't even mind. She just did what made her happy and her parents let her do whatever she wanted. Ariel bade her bye and settled for her course of the day.

She got into the bathroom and had a warm bath. She slid into a black knitted knee-length sweater and black heeled boots. She packed her hair in a bun and allowed few strands to fall beside her temples. She draped a grey overcoat on it and put on a pair of dark sunglasses. She looked both chic and powerful.

A black Ferrari convertible was parked downstairs and a driver was waiting for her. She was surprised when she saw the setup.

"Who're you?"

The man gave her a deep bow and handed an apple iPad to her. She cast him a glance and took the iPad. An incoming video call from 'boss' was what she saw.

"Answer it Miss", the man said. He was so courteous towards this woman. His boss has taken a deep interest in her and respecting her was as good as adding bonus to his wallet in a blink of an eye. His boss had called him from their base in Italy and told him that he had a job for him.

When he learned of the nature of the job, he took it lightly but when his boss explained somethings to him, he concluded that his work was the hardest. However, he still had to do it, for his boss.

Ariel clicked on the 'answer' button and a familiar face appeared on the screen. The man was seated on the seat behind his desk. He held a lighter in his hand and was opening and closing it with his thumb in a calming rhythm.

"Baby", he called her. Ariel's ears warmed. She didn't even know when all this started but, she had to admit that she liked it when he addressed her like that. She removed her sunglasses and her face came into view.

Rex was thunderstruck. He knew that she was a pretty but... Does she get pretty with each passing day? Something in his body was awakened at that instant. A dark but mesmerizing chuckle rang from his throat. Who can do this kind of things to him? Only her!

He continued. "I got you Jay. He'd be your personal driver from now on. You can do with him whatever you want. You're his boss now. He's going to be your bodyguard from now on".

" Do I look like I need one? "

Rex shrugged. " Don't you? You're going on a mission without any protection? C'mon baby".

Ariel sighed. " I'm sorry Mr. Forbes, but I'd have to say no".

Rex was silent for a while. Then he said, "As you wish. Just make sure to take care of yourself ".

Ariel was taken aback. She didn't expect him to agree so easily. She wondered if he had felt hurt or if he was pissed.

Rex seemed to notice the conflict in her eyes and smiled gently. "It's fine baby. I'm not pissed. As long as you want, you can do whatever it is that you want. I will always be by your side".

Ariel felt warmth deep down and the warmth rose to her chest but she still asked.

"Why are you doing all of this Mr. Forbes?"

Rex looked into her hazel eyes through the screen. His face was filled with gentleness and doting." That's because, you're someone whom I've come to fancy ".
