Delayed Gratification :)
Dimitri POV
The weakness of my humanity bled from me. This creature that was my sire had shown me a human level bit of empathy—kindness even. I was his prisoner, in his ebony tower or carnal pleasures. Yet, it only served to destroy my humanity even more. The will to live had been contingent on finding a moment of redemption in her eyes—
But he would deny me that.
The embrace was firm, cool. Somewhat different than I had imagined. He smelled of warm amber—his shirt was silken, smoother to the touch. His skin was soft, which was a big surprise; I always imagined he was a made of porcelain. Light and cool—but rock-like. Lifeless. Instead, it was a different kind of life.
You could feel the muscles under his skin; each movement under the skin added to this façade of humanity.
And I felt comfort.
