In desperation
His arms trapped me, like he had so many times before, refusing to let me go. We were both awake, even with the dangerous amount of alcohol in our systems, neither of us would let this moment fade. For the first time in months, I felt good.
I felt something.
"How did we end up here?" He asked, a sobering question posed too many hours too late.
I couldn't help but chuckle, "I think there was a lot of adult beverages involved."
I could just feel the smile on his face as he placed a few more gentle kisses on my head, "Can we just go back and pretend the last few months didn't happen?"
I had been avoiding his gaze all night, wondering if reality would hit us, and everything so perfectly imperfect would crash down around me; I glared up at him, his piercing blue eyes striking me again. "I don't want to forget. Then I won't be able to appreciate what I missed." He smiled, his lips massaging mine gently.
