Chapter 4

The lights outside had disappered. She closed the door behind her and went to bed. The petal sank in the bottle.

Sunlight shone through the window. Stella made her usual route to school. Ian was already at his seat. She made her way to him. "How have you been?"

"I was going through some books and I found this one about creatures in the forest. I thought it might seem interesting," he replied.

She quickly flipped through the book. It was a book about foxes and wolves. She put it back to his table and denied the offer.

She told Chloe about the book offer and Chloe happily agreed, because she was writing an article about it. They met him again in class and Chloe asked him about the book. "Stella told me you had a book about foxes and wolves."

"Yes," he replied.

"It might have some information about their traits."

"You can have it if you want."

She took the book and left the place. Someone knocked gently on her table. It was Dani. He moved his head to the side and asked her if anything had happend. She didn't know how to feel. It had been a long walk at the market and she was feeling tired. "I'm reading my notes."

He nodded simply and left. A moment of hesitation flickered in her. There wasn't anything to say. It was the joy of the moment that lead to the disappointment. It seemed they still had very long distance. Class had not begun yet. Dani glanced at her notes, they were organized in a booklet. "We can study together, if you want to," he said.

They sat at a table in her dormitory. It was not that crowded. Most of the shelves was filled with boxes and green plants. "Did you write the homework?" he asked.

"I only started with the first few exercises," she replied.

"Okay."

They sat in silence for a while. "Ian writes his homework nicely and is faster."

They haven't had contact for a while. It was strange to hear about him from his friend. She didn't know what to say.

He paused. "But I haven't met with him for a while."

The feeling that she had felt started to melt. It was like ice defrosting. She read through her notes quickly. Strangely, she did not feel upset. "Do you want some tea?" She asked.

He nodded. "Thanks."

He had always been good in arithmatics. She kind of felt, if it had not been his grades, he would not have come here. She poured out some warm water and handed him the cup.
