I can Buy it!
Ever since Evan was young, his life hasn't been the greatest. In fact life was down right horrible.
He tried everything to make it better.
Got good grades in high school? He lost all his grandparents during that time.
Got into College and managed to graduate with a bachelors in three years? His girlfriend from high school died in an accident.
Managed to get a decent office job to help pay for his living needs? His parents died in a plane crash.
Ever since losing his close family he was scared of making connections. As a result his promotion was put on hold until his company saw improvements in his life. And by improvements, they meant his mental health.
Evan had a secret. A secret not even known by his only two remaining friends his has had since middle school.
He had a stat system. However it was realistic.
Sure he could level grind by studying, by training, and by simply living. But with those important in his life reduced to two friends... it all felt empty.

He scoured his stats board for years and managed to finally find out what to do to unlock his skills, MP, and Ki.
He needed to pay the system. To unlock skills would cost him 100k. To unlock MP and Ki are 10k each.
With his life having been filled with funerals and goodbyes and studying he has never been able to save more than 8k before spending it on those losses. Now at age 27, after saving every last penny he could for the last 6 years of his life. He was ready to give the skill system a shot by paying the 100k to see if it will help his life at all.
He was in his single room apartment in upper state New York as he went through the system to the skill board. He looked at his single full bed he sat on, to his computer desk with his laptop, then his dresser with a tv on it, and then to his kitchen and bathroom which were both average for a New York single person apartment. He took a look around before nodding to himself.
"Can't be much worse than what i have gone through."
He reached up with his slightly malnourished hand from saving on nutritious meals to try to buy this skill board. His naturally tan hand from being of latino descent taps the button to buy it and he sees nothing happen at first.
He stares at the pile of cash on his table that he pulled from his savings over the years before sighing, "I should have seen that coming."
Before gasping as the entire pile of cash disappears and he gets the notification.
