//if you bitchboys are gonna complain about the magic let me first say this, Vergil can't actually cut apart space and time, the Yamato can.
That beloved sword will come into play, later on, give it time suckers, I wanna write some fight scenes.//

"This is more difficult than I thought..."
Vergil was still standing outside of the church, only an hour has passed since he began practising with [Mirage Magic] and he couldn't help but immediately notice that this magic wasn't quite as easy to master as he originally thought. The initial tool creation and mana materialisation were simple enough, it was keeping the damn thing together when he wanted to control it with his mind.
He had also tried moving on to create different things, like scissors, a piece of paper, a knife, a sword and the literal fucking bench he was sitting on. All of these... did actually form successfully. Again, the only issue was with delicate and precise control of them whilst Vergil wasn't in physical contact with them.
"Sigh... How vexing."
The cool thing about the Mirage Magic was that it allowed for the creation of anything physical, be it a tool or a literal wall. However, any special properties it may have possessed were rendered null. Not to mention there was a massive limitation on what Vergil could project. He tried replicating Lily's signature spell, [Water Creation Magic: Holy Fist of Love] and it... semi-worked? Any elemental properties the spell first possessed were gone, and in the water fist's place was just a deadass glass-like mirage of a large human fist... Not quite what Vergil wanted. Next, he created replicating a fireball as Nash had some proficiency with his fire magic, enough so that he could throw small balls of fire around.
The results were the same.
The "flame" around the sphere was just... like an illusion. It wasn't really there. It was like a shadow, couldn't be touched but it could be interacted with by the outside world. Also, the sphere itself had no fire-based properties, it was literally just a blue ball the size of a fist. For now, though, Vergil decided that experimentation would have to wait until he had a firm grasp of the very basics. Then he could advance towards the more fun stuff.
-rumble-
...That wasn't the sound of an earthquake, although it very well could be mistaken as the ground quaking. No, that was merely Vergil's stomach RUMBLING, RUMBLING, in need of sustenance, preferably in the form of a warm breakfast.
"...Toast. I demand toast."
Vergil demands toast.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was almost noon now, and Vergil had long since finished his breakfast at the orphanage/church and went to work to make some money. He didn't bother sharing his discovery with anyone, as that was once again way too much drama for him to handle so early in the morning.
Regardless, the day started and was progressing as normal. Asta had fucked off somewhere to presumably train until his muscles screamed and his bones quaked in agony. Yuno was... well, hanging out with the kids as he usually would while helping out around the church with any chores that Sister Lily couldn't do, which there were very few. That nun knows how to do her job. And Vergil, well, he went off to work at the carpenter as he always did.
Mister David, was the name of the carpenter/lumberjack that was Vergil's employer. A middle-aged guy with a manly beard and the body of a gorilla. He had a pretty wife and, get this, SIX KIDS! Yep, six! How in the world did he or his wife have the energy to take care of them was beyond Vergil's cognitive capabilities, but that wasn't important at the moment. Mr David was, well, a very cheerful and happy guy. He always spoke loudly and with a clear and deep voice. He also always wore a boilersuit over a red and black checkered button-up t-shirt.
Mr David and Vergil had been working together for about... four years now. Vergil had signed up to help him around the workshop when he was just little and has slowly gotten used to working with the various tools. Part of doing work for Mr David was also actually gathering the wood necessary for his craftsmanship, and that meant one thing, chopping down some trees. This was the main reason why Vergil was so familiar with the axe as both a weapon and a tool.
Currently, both men were in the workshop, the tall burly man was filling some logs while the white-haired teenager was trying to use his [Mirage Magic] to cut a sculpture with the use of some extremely sharp swords.
"That's some useful magic you got there lad," commented Mr David as he peered over to see Vergil struggling to make a simple wooden sculpture from a small piece of wood, this simple task didn't require the use of his grimoire.
"I know. I got it today."
"Mhm... Have you tried maybe actually holding the tools you use?"
"Yes. This is training."
"Traning? Oh!" the older male bumped his fist against an open palm with a face of realisation, "Are you planning to join the Magic Knights?"
"Maybe."
"Maybe? Yes or no, lad. It ain't a difficult question."
"I don't know. I just want to... get better with my magic."
Vergil truly had no idea if he planned to join those guys. The Magic Knight squads were... an interesting bunch for sure. He's heard of the rowdy Black Bulls, of the battle-crazy Crimson Lions and of the majestic Golden Dawn. These three were the only squads that interested him, and one of them for all the wrong reasons. Honestly, listening to people comment on Black Bulls and then reading the news articles was almost like reading a comedy skit. The amount of bullshit those guys did on a daily basis was staggering.
But enough about the Magic Knight Squads. Vergil didn't even properly decide on what to do with his future, but this magic... it sure as hell opened a window of possibilities. If he got a proper hang of it by the time Asta and Yuno would try out for Magic Knights, he should be set. After all, having rare magic is half the battle. And this kind, unheard of even, would surely at least catch the attention of a few squads. Besides, should he be denied entry into the Magic Knight squads, Vergil's pride would forever be tarnished.
"Well, gettin' into one of them fancy Magic Squads 'bout to help ya."
The older man shrugged his burly shoulders as he returned to his work, leaving Vergil to do the same. But the white-haired male couldn't help but still contemplate on what to do once the time came. He knew that there was a time period of five to six months after the grimoire awarding ceremony for the young mages to learn spells. Only then, after that period of time, would the initiation into the Magic Knight squads be held.
That left Vergil with two options. Join Asta and Yuno, who would UNDOUBTEDLY go for the tryouts or stay here, working as a carpenter. Maybe find a pretty woman to marry in the future... Okay... why did that train of thought lead to Sister Lily is... a bit of a faff. Vergil decided to just let his mind go empty for now. No thoughts, head empty. Only work, work on wood.

"...Work, Vergil, you can think about magic, future and cute nuns later."
