Chapter Thirty

All Might loaded up the car with the luggage which was more his things than yours, and the two of you were on your way to Hosu City for the week!

All Might had business he needed to do there; you weren't lying to Mina. You did want to get out and travel around, this was what made you agree to join All Might's road trip. It was a small start to seeing the world, but it was something, and you did need to take it easy just a bit until your rib is fully healed.

All Might was beaming with excitement ever since you agreed to join him.

The car ride was odd at first.

Tension so thick you could cut it with a knife filled the enclosed space around the two of you. It felt like there were unsaid words that needed to be spilled into the open. But you didn't know what to say to All Might, ever since the Sports Festival things have been...off...between the two of you.

"So-" All Might cleared his throat, feeling the same way you did. He just didn't know how to take that first step. He wished Dr. Aimi wasn't on vacation right now. "-when we get there, we can unpack and have dinner, the hotel as a great restaurant inside it."

"Ok." You nodded, you loved food.

"Tomorrow I have a few things I need to do but after we can go sightseeing around the city, sound like a plan?"

"Yeah." You nodded again, not sure what else to say.

"(y/n) ..." All Might breathed through his nose. "...I-I just want to say I'm sorry." All Might blurted.

"Sorry?" You turned to look at the pro-hero. "For what?"

"What I said during the Sports Festival...I should have supported what you wanted to do, I guess I was just worried you would get hurt beyond what you could recover from."

"I'm sorry too." You investigated your pant leg like the fabric was the most interesting thing on earth. "I know I wasn't easy to deal with-"

"You were though." All Might sighed, "You just wanted to be like your classmates and participate. We should have sat down together and talked about it, I shouldn't have shot down your opinion like I did, and I shouldn't have said I wouldn't support you-" All Might glanced from the road, "-because I will support you no matter what."

"Thanks..." You smiled, your chest feeling lighter as your muscles relaxed. You leaned against the seat looking out the window at the new city. "...wow!" You gasped at the skyscrapers, you stared out the window, your hands pressed against the cool glass looking at the rushing city.

"Welcome to Hosu City." All Might chuckled at your wide-eyed expression.

"This place is insane!" You gushed, pointing to a colorful building.

"Just wait until we get to the really big cities." All Might joked as he pulled up to a fancy building where people waited outside to take their luggage and car.

"They are just taking it for you?" You asked.

"Yes." All Might answer as the two of you walked to the service desk. "They will take our things to our room and park the car for us."

"That is crazy." Your mind was already blown by the simplest things this town had to offer.

"While we wait for them to take our things up and finish the room-" All Might turned, "-how about that dinner I promised you?"

"Yes!" You bounced, the smells spilling out of the busy restaurant had your stomach rolling around.

Dinner with All Might was nice, the tension finally broke between the two of you. You were introduced to fine dining for the first time.

"(y/n)-" All Might said out of the blue halfway through dinner.

"Yeah?" You looked up from your plate.

"-I have been meaning to talk to you about something."

"Oh?" You blinked, what did you do now?

"Yes..." All Might readjusted in his chair, appearing to be more uncomfortable than before. "...um...I have been thinking...i-if you want to call me something other than All Might than you can."

"Something other than All Might?" You repeated.

"Yes." The blond quickly nodded his head.

"Like what?"

"Well like...Toshinori or something else, wh-whatever you feel comfortable with!" All Might nervously laughed, rubbing his sweaty palms on his pants. He felt the folder tucked under his thigh; his throat ran dry as he cured himself inside his head.

'You have fought countless villains, saved the world. You're the symbol of peace for God's sake! Get a hold of yourself!' All Might lectured himself inside his head.

"If you're ok with me doing that than I'm ok with it." You replied, taking another bite of your dinner.

"Wonderful!" All Might smiled, slipping his hand off the folder, feeling himself giving up.

"What are you hiding under the table?" You asked, having noticed it from the beginning.

"A-Ah well-!?" All Might instantly began to sweat; you were beginning to see where Midoriya picked up his nervousness from. "-yo-you see...i-it's nothing!"

"It doesn't seem like nothing." You commented at his ridged body language. "What is it?"

"Well..." All Might sighed, slowly bringing the folder onto the table, placing it beside him. "...i-it's for you..."

"For me?" You frowned, was it the funds from the HPSC? Had they finally come through? Was this the conversation of All Might kicking you out of his house?

"Yes." All Might nodded, feeling like he was suffocating inside this airless room! "I-I was hoping you would do me the honor and-" All Might tugged on the collar of his shirt, trying to release some of the air that was trying to cook him alive.

"Are we doing alright over here?" The server walked up just then.

"Yep!" All Might's voice spiked, "Just peachy!"

"Can I get you anything else right now?"

"Nope!" All Might was tightly wound, your furrowed your brows together.

"Alright just let me know if you change your mind-"

"Thank you!" All Might waved, trying to get the server away from the table. Once he saw the young girl walking away, he turned back to you only to freeze in his seat as his ghost detached from his body.

"These are adoption papers." You stated, reading through the famous folder which was now in your hands. You had slipped it away from All Might when he was distracted.

"Y-Yeah they are..." All Might looked everyone but you.

"For me?" You blinked, knitted your brows as you looked at him.

"Yes." All Might nodded. "I wanted to speak to you about me...possibly...adopting...you."

"Why would you want to do that?" You scoffed closing the folder.

"Why wouldn't I?" All Might breathed, his face pained you didn't hold a higher opinion of yourself.

"Tosh-" You were about to try out calling All Might something else when:

"Your amazing (y/n)-" All Might started, "-you rose when most people would have fallen. I watched beside you as you became this vibrant person who never fails to make me smile. You light up the room when you walk into it, you're so smart and I have no doubt in my mind that you will become a fine Pro-Hero."

"What-"

"I got to know the real you, not the curated version you put on for other people. I saw your pain, how you suffered, I watched you recover from almost losing your life and after all that, all the bad and ugly...I couldn't stop myself from loving you."

"Toshin-"

"I-" All Might cleared his throat, "-want to adopt you as my own. I already look at you as it but in the eyes of the law, I want you to be my daughter (y/n)." All Might's words struck nerves you thought were long gone.

"I..."

"You don't have to say anything right now." All Might held up his hands, "It's ok if you want to say no-" All Might's voice cut off seeing the tears flowing down your face. "-no, no, no!" He stood dashing around the table. "Don't cry!" He breathed wrapping his arms around you, he didn't give a damn that people were staring. "It's ok-"

"Why?" You breathed looking up at him with teared filled eyes. "My own father didn't want the role. Why do you want it?"

"That man was a fool." All Might sternly stated, "Anyone with a lick of common sense would be honored to have you has their kid."

You were utterly speechless, your throat swelled shut overwhelmed with emotions you didn't even know how to begin to process.

"You don't have to say anything now." All Might repeated, "But whatever you deicide, I will always be here for you, that will never change."
