I can take care of myself

Koala

My whole body itches as I fought to rein my beast in while my eyes searched for food, to be honest, anything with life would be suitable.

I was losing to my beast, and I knew it, it taunted me with the promise of control and food.

'Give me control, we'll find the prey faster.' it said, but I knew it was a lie, my beast wasn't just going to find a prey to feed on, it was going to feed on anything with life that caught his eyes.

I stopped when I heard the brief rustle of grass, prey!

I glanced back and saw a bear, I breathed a sigh of relief even though I felt bad...a bit.

If it was a human being, I wouldn't be feeling guilty at all, in fact I loved preying on humans. But preying on innocent animals was just not my thing, but I was desperate.

I gave in to my shift, my perfectly human hands, morphing into tentacles. I extended it towards the bear and it quickly wrapped itself around it, holding it captive before the bear could even think of fighting, and then I sucked the life out of it.

When I reached the house, Vincent was waiting for me at the gate. I looked away when our eyes met, and went to pass by him.

He scoffed and took hold of my arm.

"I would like to know where my mate was for the past one hour?"

"He doesn't think he trusts you enough to tell you." I answered back.

He flinched like I had hit him.

"Really? You go for an hour while I pace around worriedly and then you come.back and tell me I don't need to know?"

I coughed, " that about sums it up."

He squinted at me. "You look different."

I stiffened, "you look like you've gained more weight."

"What I look like is none of your business."

"Oh but it is, it's my job as your mate to make sure you're fine, to take care of you."

"I can take care of myself."

"Oh believe me I know you can, but you still need me, Koala, everyone needs someone to lean on."

" And you are that person?"

"Yes, I am your mate, your other half."

"You don't know me Vincent, this—," I waved my hand around myself. "—Is a facade, a lie."

"You look tired." He changed the conversation. "Let me take care of you, you have dark circles." He purred.

"I don't…"

"I want to." He cut me off, "please, and I promise you'll enjoy it." He made small circles on my stomach.

I sighed, "what happened while I was gone?"

"Well, Danica fainted five minutes after freezing, so both your sisters are yet to wake up, don't worry they're not in the same room."

"But let's go to my room, I have the perfect cure for your stress."

I rolled my eyes, what have I got to lose anyway?

"Alright, I'll give in."

"Won't you tell me what they meant when they said you needed to feed."

I coughed to cover up the sudden urge I had to tell him everything.

"It's none of your business Vincent, they were just worried that I hadn't been eating well."

He frowned, "but you're eating, I make sure you do, I mean I watch you eat."

"Uhm, okay, but don't you think that's creepy? Watching me eat."

"It's not, it's just that you eat like you're performing a show on 'how to drive your mate so fucking mad with a fuck', I mean have you seen how you eat?"

"No Vincent, I don't actually watch myself eat."

"Well anyway, Vincent waves me off. "I'm gonna make you feel so fucking good, you'll forget everything and just give in to me."

I'd like to forget everything, at least, this once, what have I got to lose?
