**Chapter 9: Yanran Is Already Pregnant!**
"What? You want to go to the Xiao family to break off the engagement on behalf of Yanran?"
At the main peak of Yunlan Sect, Yun Yun looked visibly surprised after hearing Chen Feng's request.
"Yes, Teacher."
Chen Feng nodded firmly. After noticing Nalan Yanran's pregnancy symptoms the previous night, he decided that the engagement cancellation couldn't be delayed any longer. Early that morning, he approached Yun Yun to discuss his plans.
Since the trip to Wutan City might take some time, Chen Feng thought it best to inform his teacher first.
"Isn't this against the rules?" Yun Yun frowned slightly.
By tradition, the engagement was a matter between the Nalan and Xiao families. For Chen Feng, an outsider, to interfere and personally visit the Xiao family to cancel it seemed inappropriate.
"What's against the rules? I'm Yanran's senior brother. As the saying goes, an elder brother is like a father. Naturally, her marriage is my responsibility."
Chen Feng delivered his response with confidence.
Yun Yun's lips twitched slightly, her expression unreadable.
Using your position to justify this, are you?
If Yun Yun hadn't known the true nature of Chen Feng's relationship with Nalan Yanran, she might have believed his reasoning. However, she was well aware of the "shameful" events that had transpired between the two.
Now, the same person was proposing to march into the Xiao family's home to cancel the engagement.
It's absurd, she thought.
If the Xiao family learned the truth—that the man breaking the engagement was romantically involved with their son's fiancée—it would be a monumental humiliation, especially for the young man engaged to Yanran, who would feel utterly betrayed.
But Yun Yun also knew some details about the engagement. The groom-to-be, Xiao Yan, was reportedly a weak cultivator with only the third level of Dou Qi.
In Yun Yun's eyes, such a man wasn't worthy of her talented disciple.
When Nalan Yanran had first mentioned the idea of breaking off the engagement, Yun Yun hadn't objected outright, though she'd hesitated to endorse it due to the Yunlan Sect's reputation.
"Since you're so determined, I won't stop you. When do you plan to leave?"
After a moment's thought, Yun Yun relented.
"Without delay, I'll set off in the next few days," Chen Feng replied, his excitement evident.
"In that case, let's plan for you to leave in three days. I'll ask Elder Gu He to refine a bottle of Qi Gathering Powder for you. Take it as compensation for the Xiao family. I heard that the young man hasn't even broken through to the Fighter level yet. This will help him."
Yun Yun, ever kind-hearted, wanted to ensure the Xiao family didn't feel entirely slighted by the broken engagement.
"Understood."
Chen Feng agreed readily. He had no intention of being overly aggressive during the visit. If the matter could be resolved peacefully, he'd prefer it that way.
Still, Chen Feng was pragmatic. If diplomacy failed, he was prepared to handle things as necessary.
Although Chen Feng possessed a powerful system, he knew better than to antagonize Xiao Yan unnecessarily.
Xiao Yan was the "Son of the Plane," after all—a being destined for greatness. Engaging him prematurely could bring unnecessary trouble.
Chen Feng didn't need to snatch Xiao Yan's opportunities as other transmigrators might. His system revolved around building a family, not fighting for resources.
Xiao Yan had his own battles ahead, particularly with the Soul Palace. Chen Feng saw no reason to interfere in those conflicts.
Let him deal with them while I focus on my own growth.
However, Chen Feng also knew that if Xiao Yan proved ungrateful or hostile, he wouldn't hesitate to act. After all, the Xiao family was insignificant compared to his ambitions.
For now, though, he had no plans to escalate matters.
"For safety reasons, I'll arrange for Deacon Ge Ye to accompany you," Yun Yun said.
While she didn't consider the Xiao family a real threat, she wasn't willing to risk anything happening to her beloved disciple. Ge Ye, a nine-star master, could easily handle the entire Xiao family if necessary.
"Uh, Teacher, that's not necessary," Chen Feng quickly countered.
"There's a branch of the Miter family in Wutan City. I can rely on them for support if needed. There's no need to trouble Deacon Ge Ye."
He didn't want Ge Ye tagging along. After all, he had plans beyond the engagement cancellation—plans involving a certain childhood sweetheart named Ya Fei.
"Very well. If you're confident, I won't insist," Yun Yun said after some thought.
She appreciated Chen Feng's growing sense of responsibility. It reassured her that he was maturing into a capable successor for the Yunlan Sect.
"Still, I believe Yanran should accompany you," Yun Yun added. "It would be improper for an outsider to handle such a sensitive matter alone. Having her there would show sincerity."
Chen Feng hesitated. He hadn't expected Yun Yun to suggest this.
"Teacher, Yanran… has some inconveniences right now," he said, carefully choosing his words.
Yun Yun raised an eyebrow. "Inconveniences? Is she unwell?"
She studied Chen Feng intently, recalling the reports from her spies. A strange suspicion began to form in her mind.
"Teacher… Yanran is pregnant," Chen Feng confessed, his voice steady but soft.
