[3rd person POV]
Some time later
Nostradamus and Batman made their way through the Court of Owls' base. With the help of Batman's gadgets, the previously unnavigable base became much less of a hassle to move through. All the while, Nostradamus covers both of them in an invisibility veil to prevent them from being seen.
The duo eventually reached a door that was very intricately carved, adorned with all sorts of jewels and such. Batman opened the door very slightly, giving him just enough space to be able to see inside without anyone inside noticing.
After taking a quick peek inside, Batman whispers to Nostradamus "I see another way inside. Let's move."
With this, the two of them make their way to a staircase leading to an upper floor. They climb up and find a small door that is barely big enough to fit an adult human.
Batman asks "Can your magic keep us hidden even in this tight space?"
Nostradamus replies "It should be possible, just make sure to not exit the veil's radius."
The two of them crouched and quietly made their way inside the room.
The room was a massive amphitheatre that was brightly lit and was decorated in an extremely lavish manner. There were gigantic chandeliers covering every square metre of the room. The walls were adorned with red silk curtains with gold accents and there was a large stage made of marble in the direct middle of the room. The walls were painted white with gold accents. There were four small pathways placed in the four cardinal directions that acted as the main entrances to the hall.
There were about a hundred seats in the theatre and most of them were full. The occupants were both men and women all dressed in formal attire and sharing a common feature. All of them were a pure white mask designed like an owl's facial disk, fashioned out of ceramic, as they all glistened under the intense light. All of them were casually conversing with each other.
One of them said "I wonder what treasures will be put up for auction today?"
Another said "I missed the previous event, but I heard from an acquaintance of mine that it was fantastic. I hope to make up for the lost fun today."
Meanwhile a woman said "Is it true? I thought it was merely a rumour but are they really putting one of those up for auction? How did they even find one?"
Someone replied to her saying "I heard that it tore through dozens of talons before they managed to capture it. Whoever wins the main attraction will be really fortunate."
Currently Nostradamus and Batman had entered via a secret exit only to be used in case of emergencies. As such, they were placed at the very back of the hall, and no one noticed the door open as they entered.
As they entered, Arnold wondered 'How the fuck did he even see this door from all the way over there? It blends in so well with the surroundings that it's barely noticeable even from here! This guy's plot armour is bullshit.'
Batman and Nostradamus made their way to a corner of the room and all the while Batman gathered information about the layout of the room.
Batman ran his observations through his head once 'There's about 50 talons spread out throughout the room as well as another 50 on the floor above us as reinforcements. We won't be getting out of here without a fight. Especially if my intel turns out to be correct.'
He then hands Nostradamus a communicator before signing him to stick it in his ear. After Nostradamus places the device in his ear, Batman points at a ledge before saying "You wait here for the opportunity to strike. I'll give you the signal when it's time. You will fend off the talons while I secure the target. I'll head over there to get a better angle to strike."
Nostradamus replies "Wait! The veil won't be able to cover you if you move that far away from me. It's hard enough to control its movement right now. Once you move away from me, it'll be impossible to cover you."
Batman answers "I don't need the cover. I can hide the old fashioned way."
Saying this, he sneakily grapples away, leaving Nostradamus behind. Then they wait in their respective positions as a man enters the room and stands in the centre of the stage. He is also wearing an owl mask as well as an all black suit with gold accents. He has a black cane in his hand. He taps the cane, and it produces a sharp noise that makes everyone else present in the room to stop talking.
He speaks up "Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honour to begin this gathering's main event. Today we have some very special items up for you to claim as well as the rarest specimen in our auction's history. So please enjoy and bet with all your heart. Now for our first item, a sword believed to be the belonging of the league of shadows' leader…"
And so the auction proceeded and all sorts of rare valuables and collectibles were featured as prizes. From paintings by Van Gogh to even a guitar belonging to the up-and-coming music legend Arnold. When this item showed up, Arnold was flabbergasted 'What the FUCK!! Who the hell stole that?! I knew I should've kept it in my inventory! Ah fuck it! Who gives a shit about a damn guitar anyways?'
Soon enough, the auction began to draw to a close. The man that was hosting the auction began to speak "Ladies and gentlemen, so far this event has been an honour to host. Through your generous bids and youthful competition we have raised over $2 billion to aid our organisation in its future endeavours. As a special thanks for your participation in our community we will be now introducing the final item for today. Ladies and gentlemen this is such a rare specimen that it cannot be priced via conventional means. Therefore, the bidding for this item shall start at $500 million and it will also require you to display a form of loyalty towards us. That display may come in the form of donations to our forces as well as pledging land for us to expand our influence. It shall be left to your discretion."
Suddenly the floor of the stage opened and a large box was brought in that was covered by a giant piece of fabric. The host removed the cloth, hence revealing what was hidden inside. As soon as Nostradamus saw its contents he was shocked beyond measure. It was a cage that was being constantly bombarded with red light. Inside was a young girl, with blonde hair and blue eyes, her age not more than 20, who had been chained with her restraints completely covering her hands, legs and eyes. Most importantly, she was wearing a necklace with a large green gemstone that had a strong green luminescence.
The host announced "It is my pleasure to announce our final item for today, a live kryptonian!"
