Tragedy

The moon slowly floats down at the horizon. The lights off as everyone sleeps calmly. A loud alarm suddenly going off as their mom gets out of bed yawning. She stands up and turning on the lamp.

"Come on you two… it's time to wake up… we gotta go..." Kurai calmly sits up and rubbing his eyes.

"Morning mommy…" she smiles as Kaneko turns over under the covers.

"I don't wanna…" Kurai yawns as he shakes Kaneko's shoulder.

"Come on bwudder, we gotta help mommy." Kaneko shakes his head as he still doesn't get up. Kurai looks at the half asleep Kaneko and huffs. He reaches over and pushes Kaneko. Kaneko almost falling out of bed. Their mom rushes over as Kaneko quickly stands up. Holding his stuffed giraffe.

"I'm up, im up…" Kaneko wipes his eyes as their mom sighs relief.

"Okay… get dressed you two… your clothes are on my bed… dad's coming to pick us up in about 30 minutes kay'?" Kaneko yawns before nodding. Kurai getting out from under their covers.

The four of them sit in seats at the airport. Kurai sitting beside Aki. Kaneko sleeping on his mom's shoulder. Kurai looking up at his dad.

"Hey dad! I wanna be a professional player like you someday!" Aki smiles brightly as he looks at Kurai.

"i've said it before, but i'll say it again… it's a pretty hefty dream but I never said it was impossible" Aki laughs as Kurai looks at him with sparkling eyes.

"So cool Dad!" Aki smiles and rubs Kurai's head.

"Yeah I know I am" the two laugh as the intercom of the airport turns on.

"Attention all passengers for terminal C, we are now ready to load" Kaneko stands and walks hand and hand with his mom. Kurai with his dad.

"Enter in a single file and please sit in the seat number on your card." The four of them walk on the plane. Kurai sitting by his dad with a window seat behind the Wings. Kaneko sitting across the isle with their mom. Kaneko still sleeping on her shoulder. Kurai smelling the air and tugging on Aki's shirt.

"...Hey dad… what's dat smell?" Aki gives Kurai a weird look before sighing. The engines firing up as a loud hum can be heard.

"Sorry bud, I don't smell anything different… what does it smell like?" Kurai sniffs again.

"... burnt toast... like whenever you cook instead of Mom..." Aki is slightly taken aback as he rubs Kurai's head.

"you're probably hungry…" Kurai looks down nervous and fidgeting with his fingers.

"I don't feel hungry though…" Aki looks around and at his wife.

"They'll bring us some food here in about an hour if the flight isn't delayed" Kurai exhales as he looks out the window.

"...okay then…"

______10 hour into flight______

Kurai squiggles and repositions himself. Uncomfortable in the seat as the smell is getting to him. He looks around. A faint popping and creaking sound.

"Dad… i'm nervous… the pwane is creaking and it smells really bad..." Kurai nervously looks up at his dad. Aki patting Kurai's head.

"We're going to be just fine, ok?" Kurai nervously breaths as he turns to look out the window. A direct view of the back of the Engines. Tension fills the air as Kurai slightly shivers. Aki reaches over and hugs Kurai. The plane slowly starting to experience turbulence. Several flight attendants walking out of the cabin.

"Attention all! The plane is currently experiencing some turbulence so we suggest that everyone take their belts and buckle up in your seat, please await any further instructions" Kaneko's eyes slowly open as he yawns.

"huh?, what's goin' on?" Kurai hugging Aki tightly.

"I don't wanna die dad…" Aki looks at Kurai surprised he's as calm as he is.

"You're not going to die Kurai…" Aki nervously looks at his wife as she shrugs. There is silence for what seems like an eternity as everyone rushes to put their buckles on. Kurai nervously looks out the window. One of the Engines smoking a lot before combusting. The eruption violently shakes the whole plan. Kurai watches with no emotions as the engine is engulfed in flames. Egg everyone screaming in fear. Aki unbuckles himself and rushes standing. He takes a deep breath and screams.

"EVERYONE CALM DOWN… we are in a bad situation right now! But Panicking won't do you much good right now! so listen to the flight attendants and the captain so you know what to do!" the plane violently shakes as he falls to the ground. Kurai watching in shock.

"DAD!" A few flight attendants try to menuver over to help. The plane violently shakes. Another engine combusting into flames. A baby screaming in the back of the plane. Aki struggles to stand back up. Noticing Kurai watching.

"Kurai, don't worry about me, I'll be fine!!" Kurai suddenly can't hear anything as he looks up at Kaneko. Tears rolling down Kaneko's face. Kurai reaches over the isle.

"We're going to be okay Kaneko!" Kaneko looks at Kurai and grabs his hand. The plane violently spiraling towards the ground. The flight attendants screaming out.

"BRACE- BRACE FOR IMPACT!" Kurai tightly grabs Kaneko's hand. Kurai tightly closes his eyes as a tear rolls down his face. Kurai looks up as Aki looks up at Kurai. A smile forms on his face.

In an instant the plane slams into a field nearby a large airport. All Kurai sees is flames all around him as metal bending and breaking can be heard. Kurai can feel his eardrums burst. Everything seemingly goes silent. Everything is a flaming fireball for a few seconds. The flames rage around him. Suddenly he hits the ground. Pain shooting across his whole body. He rolls along the ground as everything hurts. His breathing wavers as he looks up at the mid-day sky. He lays there for a while as several EMS run over to him. He could barely hear what they were saying.

"He's s---rely burnt --- --eeding… third degree burn- ------ -ll over his body! --- barely breathin- -ut his heart's still beating!... Kid can --u hear us? What's --ur name?" Kurai coughs up blood as his eyes water.

"k…. Ra…" he starts coughing as the EMS start rushing.

"He's responsive!" Kurai struggles to stay conscious a the EMS try to keep him awake. Kurai struggles to breathe. An ambulance rushing over.

"Don't go out on us now kid!" Kurai coughs again as tears roll down his cheeks.

"ha-.... Bre….. thing…." Kurai gets lifted up by the EMS as he closes his eyes. He opens his eyes as he's being put into the ambulance. He tries to look but struggles. His eyes widen as the plane rests in the field. A massive ball of flame, scrap metal, and smoke is all that's left.

"Kane… ko…" Kurai's close again as he falls unconscious again.
