Adan of the Black Lotus

(Some Years Ago)

Adan hid in the closet, following the instructions of his mom. His heart was beating fast, hearing the commotion outside and inside his house. Whoever it was that was attacking his people were definitely trashing the whole house. The sound of their angry voices and growls scared him. He looked down at his little sister beside him who was also hiding with him. She seemed extra scared, panicking and sobbing quietly.

"It's going to be alright" Adan whispered to her, trying to cheer her up. He pulled her in and hugged her as she continued sobbing with her face buried in his chest.

Being twelve years old, there was not much he could do. He couldn't fight off the intruders, neither could his ten years old sister. He began thinking just where his father and elder brother were when they needed them right now the most. If they had been present, he was sure they could protect them. But their father had gone with the others wolves, taking his older brother along.

Now they were at the mercy of those savages. His heart skipped a beat when he heard the screams of his mother. He began panicking, not wanting anything to happen to his mother. "Adan! Adan!" His little sister tugging on his shirt. He looked down at her and saw fear and worry in her eyes. "What are they doing to mom?" She asked tearfully.

"Don't worry, she'll be fine. Father and big bro will come soon and save us. I'll protect you don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you" He assured her, knowing he was just as powerless as she was and could not protect anyone, but still he would try.

No sooner had they stopped talking when they heard loud footsteps coming into the room. Whoever it was began sniffing around, thrashing the room and growling angry. Adan tried to look through the little crack on the closet. Not knowing the intruder and walked over to the closet, immediately he looked out, his eyes met with the enemy's eyes.

The door of the closet flung open and they saw him standing with a smile. He was huge and had a slanty scar on his face. His eyes dirty and angry. "There you are" He said to them, staring at the terrified Adan and his little sister. He grabbed them both and dragged them out, ignoring Adan's struggles and his little sister's cries and screaming.

He dragged them to the living room where the others were. Adan counted four more wolves in the living room, standing round his mother who was kneeling on the floor with tears in her eyes. "Look what I found!" The wolf announced, throwing Adan and Kira, his little sister, on the floor.

"Nooo!" Their mother screamed on seeing her kids had been caught. "Please don't harm them, they are just kids, innocent. They have nothing to do with this. Let them go and I'll do whatever you say, please" She pleaded desperately, her heart racing.

"Innocent you say" The wolf laughed and, picked up Kira and threw her to her mother, in the middle of their circle. "Let's rectify that" He grinned, pulling up Adan to his feet.

"Mom!" Adan called fearfully.

"Don't worry honey, it's going to be okay" She replied, knowing that was a blatant lie.

"No it won't" The wolf stated and they all began laughing. "What do you say boys? Let's have a little show, shall we?" He asked and the others shouted in agreement. He reached for his dagger that was hidden in his boot. "Only one of you will probably leave here alive" He added

Standing up, that was when Adan saw his dead older sister on the ground, hidden behind the sofas. Her shirt torn, bone broken and lying in a pool of her own blood. "Cara" he muttered weakly, tears rolling down his eyes.

"Here!" The wolf forced the dagger to Adan, forcing him to hold it. "It's very simple...go in that circle, stab your mother and sister in their heart and I'll let you go" He explained

All their eyes widened with shock, Adan and his mother especially. "No please don't do this, he's just a child" She cried, begging.

"Go on!" The wolf pushed Adan into the circle, ignoring the pleas of their mother.

Adan stood in front of them, holding the dagger out with both hands, while tears streamed down his face. He shook his head "I can't, I'm not going to kill my mother and sister" He defiled his instructions, bringing the dagger down. He couldn't believe how evil they were to make a child do that.

"If you don't, I'll kill you and then kill them. It's a loss either way, but at least you'll be alive if you carry out my orders"

"Please! Take my life instead and let both my kids go" She cried.

"Okay, I will. Kill your mother and you and your little sister will be free" He smiled sheepishly.

"I can't....I can't" Adan shook his head again, crying loudly.

"Adan, honey...." He heard his mother call him. He shifted his eyes to her and saw her smiling at him. "Don't worry...just do it. You and Kira will be safe. I won't be angry or heartbroken. Do it honey and save yourself and your sister" She nodded at him, still smiling.

"I... ca..."

"You can. I believe in you" She smiled at him, trying to hide her sadness and heartbreak but failing miserably as tears continuously kept flowing.

The wolves getting impatient, quarreled and grumbled at him. The wolf who had caught them, pushed Adan closer to his mother again, this time standing mere inches from her. His hands were trembling as he gripped the dagger tight with both his hands. He looked at his mother and she nodded the go ahead, all the while not losing her smile. She got up to bed knees, so he could easily reach her heart. Kira stood up to her feet, standing beside her mother and crying uncontrollably, knowing what they wanted her big brother to do to her mother.

"Mom..." He called weakly with an unclear voice.

"It's okay honey. Everything will be fine. I'll be with you both always" She assured.

She knew her son couldn't go on with what they wanted, he was the sweetest boy who can't even hurt a fly and always saves bugs from getting squashed or killed. Now killing a human, and his mother at that, she knew he wouldn't go through with it. Just as predicted, he was about to bring down the dagger again but she crawled on her knees to him, drawing him into a tight hug as the dagger pierced into her heart.

"No!! Mom!!!" Kira yelled out.

Still in the embrace of his mom, his grip still on the dagger that was buried in his mom, Adan's eyes widened with shock and disbelief. He couldn't utter a word. He felt like he was in a nightmare, one he wanted to wake up from. "Don't...b...be...sad....and don't...blame... yourself honey...you did nothing wrong....it's on them" She muttered quietly to him, blood coming out from her mouth. "I love....you both" She concluded, her arms loosening from the embrace.

Standing there in shock, unable to move or say anything, Adan's eyes remained widened and his mouth agape. "Huh...would you look at that?! How emotional. She sacrificed herself" The wolf mocked and they all joined in, laughing heavily, excited for the scene that just played in front of them.

Adan looked down at his hand which was still holding the dagger, even though the now lifeless body of his mother had pulled out and fallen on the floor. He stared at his hand which was almost fully covered in blood as they ran from the blade to his hand. "Now, next up is your sister!"

Hearing that, he immediately snapped out of his trance like state. "What!" He almost shouted in pain, more shocked than before. "You said you'll let us both go"

"I lied. I still stand by my original offer. Kill them both and you'll live" His devilishly grin widened. "Hold the girl" He ordered and one of the wolves walked over to her and held her tight, carrying her closer Adan.

"Noo!!! Noo!!!" Kira yelled out fearfully, struggling to get free from the grip of the abnormally strong man but failed as he held her tighter.

"Now do it! We don't have all day. You hear the commotion outside? I will like to be part of it" He stated

Adan looked over at his little sister's scared eyes. Shaking his head, "Kira I...." He trailed off when a force hit his hand, causing him to bury the dagger into her heart. "No no no! What have you done? What have I done?" He cried out, as he received another shock of his life.

"Arrghhh!" Kira cried out in pain, throwing up blood simultaneously.

Adan glanced back and realized that their leader had kicked his hand from behind, forcing him to stab her. "You're a monster!" He shouted.

"I told you we don't have all day" He smiled and then nodded at the wolf holding Kira. The wolf, ignoring her painful cries, let go of her and immediately snapped her neck, ending her.

"Kira!!!" Adan shouted

Their leader moved closer to Adan and took the bloody dagger from him, staring at the boy who was consumed with shock and trauma. "Now I said I'll let you go....but I lied also" He pointed out and just as Adan shifted his gaze to him, he stabbed both his legs swiftly and then his rib. Forcing Adan to yelp in pain, dropping to his knees. "The only mercy I can show you, is not ending your life right now. I'll let the fire do that" He said and then turned to his fellow Betas. "Let's light this place up!!" He shouted and they roared in agreement.

Adan fell to his side, holding his bleeding rib as he kept staring at his dead mother and sister. "I'm....sorry..." He muttered with a raspy voice just before he felt the hotness of the fire they started. It was fast going round the house. He heard the wolves laugh as they left. He immediately lay down on his stomach, crawling as fast as he could to the back door before the fire got to where he was.

After a while of struggling, he finally made it out. He turned and watched as the whole house was consumed by the flame, burning everything inside, including his mother and sister's bodies. With tears running down his eyes, merging with his broken heart, he said. "I will kill them....I will kill them all!!" He shouted angrily as he made his vow.

(Present Time)

Adan arrived at the base of Alpha Maynard with what was left of his men, they were less than thirty. The whole place looked deserted. No one was there safe for the tents and dead wolves on the ground. None of his people had arrived also. Focusing on his sense of smell and hearing, he quickly picked up multiple heartbeats, all surrounding him. He realized he had been ambushed. "I can hear your heartbeats. There's no point in hiding. Come out and face me" He called calmly.

Hearing this, Alpha Maynard came out from behind one of the tents and all the hidden wolves came out also, surrounding him. Looking around, he could see some of their eyes constantly glowing and it made him realize they were being controlled also. "This is the end for you" Alpha Maynard called out with a proud smile.

"You can't escape it, and neither can you defeat us all, even with your pitiful wolves" Alpha Bayron chipped in, coming out from behind Alpha Maynard.

Adan's brows furrowed, staring at Alpha Bayron with a puzzled and questioning look. "You! I killed you and the boy. How are you here" He asked

"I'm a Direwolf Alpha...it never occurred to you that I have my own ability too. You should have figured out when I fought you without using my ability....cloning, I can make a shadow clone of myself that can fight, talk and do everything just like me....how did you think I survived Kreed years ago when he thought he killed me after Damien was captured?! I anticipated his move and made a clone of myself. What he actually killed was my clone and what you actually fought was my clone, only that my son was real and you killed him. And now I'm going to pay you back for it" He explained with an angered expression.

"Enough of the talk and delays. The others will be here anytime soon and we can't afford to have them together. KILL THEM!" Alpha Maynard ordered and all the wolves simultaneously ran towards him, fangs and claws out.

Adan prepared for their assault and his men still in their wolf form, attacked angrily, growling loudly. He knew fighting them all at once was going to be a hard or even impossible if they came at him at once. They should be no less than two hundred. With the first one leaping off the ground toward him, Adan punched into his chest and ripped out his heart mid air.

He looked around and saw that his men had all been put down easily by the Direwolves. He immediately activated his ability, his eyes glowing red. A lot of them that stared into his eyes were placed in a hallucinating state, making it easy for him to kill them. He targeted them one after the other, moving between them with unsual speed. While the ones who never stared into his eyes tried to attack him. "Don't stare into his eyes!" Alpha Bayron shouted.

They heeded his command and began fighting him without staring directly into his eyes. Adan kept dodging gracefully and countering them with any open chance he got. He threw one against a huge tree, grabbed another one's hand and hurled him against the others, sending them crashing to the floor. Before he could turn, one came up behind him and kicked his leg from behind, sending him to his knee. As soon as he threw another kick, Adan caught his leg and dug his claws into the leg, drawing a growl from the wolf.

Before he could throw the wolf away using his leg, a punch came from behind. He let go of the wolf he was holding as another's claws came from behind and clawed his back, drawing blood. He angrily did a flip, off his knees and landing on his feet. He began blocking their attacks, returning the favor by attacking them also.

Fighting them all at once was becoming hard and he could tell it was a battle he was gonna lose. But still, he kept fighting with every strength he had, taking a lot of them down. He did a flip to dodge a set of claws coming his way and then swiftly turned to catch the punch that was coming from behind.

He looked up at the wolf with his glowing eyes and shock immediately enveloped him. His eyes widened and mouth agape, he stood still, staring at the wolf, distracted from the others. "Brother?" He called confusedly, staring at his older brother that left with his father on the day of the cleansing.

Distracted, his brother said nothing and swiftly punched him with his free hand forcefully, sending him stumbling back and landing on a stake that pierced into his back to his inside. He immediately turned to see Alpha Bayron who had stabbed him with another stake. He immediately tried to stab him again but Adan caught his hand. "Over here" He heard from behind him just before Alpha Maynard drove his own stake into his side.

He growled in pain, letting go off Alpha Bayron's hand. Without hesitating Alpha Bayron immediately dashed into him, using the opening and plunging the stake into his heart. With three stakes buried inside him, Adan dropped to his knees, coughing out blood and bleeding all over. He felt strength leaving him and his heart becoming slower.

"I told you, you will pay for killing my son" Alpha Bayron stated with a proud smile, holding Adan's shoulder and driving the stake deeper into his heart. Ignoring his painful growls, Alpha Bayron let go off him causing him to fall on his side. His eyes immediately went to his brother that he thought he had lost all these years.

Seeing he was kept as a prisoner and then now being controlled pissed him off but there was, there was nothing he could do except to hope that Kreed and the others, finish the job and end the war. 'I leave the rest to you Kreed. And I'm sorry for letting you down' He thought to himself just before Alpha Maynard crouched next to him, pulled out the stakes in his back and then rolled him to his back so he was facing up.

Smiling devilishly at Adan, Alpha Maynard immediately began stabbing into his chest continuously, each time causing blood to pop out. "I told you all I'm gonna win this war!" He stated happily and proudly as he kept on stabbing away, ignoring Adan's coughs of blood. Unable to take more stabbings and his heart finally giving up, Adan breathed his last breath and shut his eyes. But Alpha Maynard continued stabbing.

"I think he's dead Alpha Maynard" Alpha Bayron pointed out.

The Alpha stopped the stabbings and examined him before standing up to his feet. "You're right..." He bobbed his head, dropping the bloody stake on Adan's body. "One down....now let's go prepare for the others" He smiled.
