Chapter 1 First Day of School (Jeremiah’s POV)

Hearing my alarm blaring off next to me, I groaned softly in annoyance. Using my right hand I punched down onto the clock. Opening my eyes slowly, I could feel the bruises already making me feel sick. Did I really want to go into school today?

I'd better, or else my little sis would dearly tell father about it. Now, granted I hated my father. But he thinks that school is important, and if he found out that I skipped or something. I would get more beaten than I usually would. Opening my eyes, I scanned around my room. Seeing that there wasn't anything threatening me, I moved out of bed. Walking over to my closet, I picked out a black sweater and dark blue jeans. Moving into my bathroom a couple feet away, I locked the door behind me.

Quickly taking off my sweats, I put on my clothes. Looking up at the mirror, I could see a dark bruise circling around my left eye. Lifting the hoodie up, I covered my head so no one could see it. Not like anyone would care much anyway.

Relieving myself, I unlocked the bathroom door. Throwing my sweats on my bed, I went out of my bedroom. Passing by my sister's room, I paused to listen in. Hearing silence, I knocked quietly and opened the door. Looking in, I noticed my sister wasn't in the room at all. Wondering where she was, I strolled down the stairs. Walking through the living room, I entered the kitchen to find my sister in a apron and cooking breakfast.

Smelling the scent of bacon and pancakes, made me groan in delight. Hearing my groan, my sister turned around and smiled brightly at me. I walked up to the breakfast bar, and pulled out a stool. Once I sat down, my sister placed a plate at my spot. Thanking her, I started to eating.

"So...?" I said.

"So what?" she tilted her head.

"School."

"Oh... Can't wait." she replied gently.

"New friends?"

Grabbing my plate I went over to wash it in the sink, and then I placed it in the drying area. Turning around, I faced my sister who stood right behind me.

"No." she replied.

"Hmm..."

"Gotta go!" as she ran out the room with her backpack in hand.

Chuckling softly, I grabbed her plate and fork and washed them. When I was done, I set them next to my dishes. After that I went back up to my room, when I walked in I grabbed my knapsack and my iphone with my headphones.

Then I left my dreary room and walked outside, locking the door behind me. I went off searching for the school, in my old beat up chevy pickup.

Some thirty-five minutes later, I found the school. Which was at the edge of the town, thanks for not telling me people. Geez...

Looking at the clock on my wrist, I noticed that it was 7:45 am. I was certainly late. Parking my car in a parking space, I stepped outside into the crisp air. Heading towards the entrance of the school, I could hear the sound of footsteps running towards me.

Not bothering to look back, I continued walking until I was inside the school. Seeing no one, I feared that class had already been started without me. Heading into the front office, I stopped in front of the secretary.

She was busy, at least it looked like it. Looking at her nametag, her name was Celia Anders. I cleared my throat, letting her know that someone was here.

Suddenly she looked up and smiled at me, or at least I thought she did.

"Brett. You're extremely late today." she said, looking past me.

"I know. I have extra homework I need to get done." I heard a voice say behind me.

Hearing someone walk up behind me, I felt a brush against my arm. Glancing sideways, I noticed a tall, long green-haired man standing beside me. To say that I was shocked was a understatement, I was surprised.

The man beside me walked forward until he was mere inches from the secretary.

"Celia, there's someone new standing here with us." I heard him say.

I was memorized, not from his hair color though. It was how he totally ignored me, and then he noticed me. It was strange. People never even gave me a glance my way, yet he did. Even though it wasn't with his eyes.

"Oh." she said.

"Hello dear. What can I help you with?" she said, beckoning me over.

I stepped up quietly, as I stood by this tall guy.

"I'm a new student. The name is Jeremiah Hunt." I replied, shifting my eyes away.

"Oh. I was expecting you today, here is your schedule for classes." she said with papers in hand.

"Thanks Ma'am." I replied, grabbing the papers out of her hand.

Turning around, I stalked off out of the office. Standing a few feet away from the front office, I looked at my schedule.

Considering it was a Wednesday, it looked like I had a Wednesday schedule. Which was quite weird, I never had a schedule like this before. I had six classes, depending on the day, I would have certain classes. So today, I had 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th period.

My whole schedule was like this:

1st Period - American Legal System

2nd Period - Anatomy

3rd Period - Calculus

4th Period - Music

5th Period - Creative Writing

6th Period - Free Period

I had never seen something quite like this. My last school had been similar, except I only had three or four classes. And that was everyday.

Now, I had a serious problem. I had no clue to where my 1st period class was, I was hopelessly lost.

"Hey, need help?" a deep-hoarse voice said.

Turning on my heels, I bumped into a broad hard chest. With so much friction, I started falling and landed on the floor with a thud.

"Ouch." I said, rubbing slightly over my bum.

"Are you okay?" the voice said.

I looked up, and saw that same long green haired man stand before me. Man, was he gorgeous. What I wouldn't give to lap water off him.

That's when I remembered he had asked me a question, and I was staring. Quite hard. Looking away, I placed my hands on the cold floor and lifted myself off the ground.

"I'm fine." I replied, grabbing my knapsack off the floor.

"Okay. Did you need help with your schedule?" he said.

Looking down at it. I said nothing.

"Maybe."

"What's your second period?" he said.

"Anatomy." I replied softly, not wanting to look at him.

"Sweet. One of my friends has this class. Come with me." he said, as he grabbed ahold of my hand and started pulling me away from the office.

Walking for a few minutes, we stopped in front of a room. The number read 121, must be the classroom then.

We thenstrolled in, it was like everything stilled in the classroom. I had been right, class had started. I was late. Glancing at my watch, I saw that it was passed 8:00 in the morning.

The guy was still pulling me, as we walked over to this long haired girl. Stopping just as we barely hit the desk.

"Aliy. This is Jeremiah Hunt, he's new here. Take very good care of him. I trust you to do that." the guy said.

The girl referred to as 'Aliy' looked up and said 'Sure.'

The guy let go of my wrist and walked out of the classroom, leaving me stunned in silence. What just happened? Did this just happen? Or was I still asleep?

"Hi. The name is Alison Hines, how about you stranger?" she introduced.

It looked like she didn't even hear that guy say my name. Or did she? Maybe she wanted to make a fool out of myself. Well, I already was one. Letting people beat me up and stuff.

"That guy said my name." I replied.

"Oh... Oh yeah, the name is Jeremiah Hunt. Right?" she said.

"Yeah..." I said.

Then she gestured to sit down next to her. Wondering what was going on, I pondered on that.

As soon as I sat down, the teacher walked right on in. She introduced herself as Leah Stonerad, then she told the class that there was a new student. Which was me. Soon I introduced myself, and class started. Apparently, our teacher was a substitute for our main teacher since they were out sick.

I had missed about 3 months of work in class. I knew that I would have a hard time catching up, considering I was really behind in class. They were talking about who know's what. I was absolutely confused and annoyed that I had no clue what they were talking about. It pissed me off.

Even though I hated school mostly, I always kept to good grades. No matter what. So I wouldn't be beaten for that as well, because I know my father just loves beating me up for no reason.

Some forty-five minutes later, the bell rung. Sighing softly, I got up and walked out of class. Knowing I had Calculus next didn't make my mood any brighter. Wondering throughout the hallways, I eventually found my class. Walking in, I waited until the teacher introduced me and then I went and sat down.

Landing down in a seat in the back with a grunt, I pulled out a lined paper binder.

"Hey there." I heard a voice say as I started writing down equations.

Not even glancing over, I continued to write.

"Hey, I'm talking to you."

This went on and on and on for about ten minutes, when it started getting on my nerves.

"What?" I whispered, turning around in my seat to find that same long green haired guy sitting next to me.

"Talk to me." he said gently.

"Busy." I replied, looking back at the board.

Luckily I hadn't missed much, considering I was behind in this math class. It wouldn't take long for me to catch up, since I was a math genius. Well, I was a genius no matter what I learned. Except if it's some type of science.

"No you're not. It's just math." he replied.

I scoffed.

"Not just math bruh. Now leave me alone." I said, starting to ignore the hottie.

"So, my name is Brett. I know you're name is Jeremiah, wanna be friends?" he said, scooting closer in his chair.

I glanced up at the teacher, and noticed he wasn't really paying attention to the students. He just continued his little calculus speech about equations, which I was taking notes in.

"Not really." I replied, getting back to note writing.

"Cmon, why not?" he said, his breath awful close to my ear.

Tingles ran down my spine, as I stiffened.

"I hate people, personally." I said through gritted teeth. "So, I'd like it if you'd leave me alone."

"Okay... if that's what you really want, then I shall." he replied.

"Brett, no talking in class." Mr. Raine snapped suddenly.

"Pssh... I can do what I want, got a problem with that?" Brett said angered.

I looked over at him to see him overly pissed off, which confused me. Considering the teacher should be the one to be pissed, not the student. When I looked over at Mr. Raine, I noticed that he was shaking ever so slightly that if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't see it. It was strange, why was our teacher scared of a student?

"No, Mr. Pierce. I have no problem with what you're doing." the teacher said, starting to get back to his speech.

"So... where were we?" Brett wondered aloud to himself.

"Nowhere, if that's what you want to know." I said, turning away slightly.

"C'mon, why won't you talk to me?"

"I just don't want to, I'm behind in classes. Now leave me alone, or I will make a complaint about you to the office." I threatened ever so quietly, making sure only he heard.

To say I was mad, was wrong. I was beyond mad, I was pissed. I hated how this guy thought he could do whatever he wanted without a thought to it.

I take back what I said earlier, about me licking him. I hate him now. That is final word. Nothing would change my words.
