Chapter 68

Edward immediately carries Dale out of the car and rushes her to the emergency room.

"Dale! Wake up my love! Open your eyes please!" he says in panic.

A doctor approached them and asks, "What happened to her sir?" while checking Dale.

"She was vomiting earlier so we decided to come here then she fainted before we could seek a doctor." Edward tries to answer in a calm manner but failing.

The doctor continues to check Dale's vital signs.

"Calm down sir! You look like you might faint too any moment now!" the doctor tries to lighten the situation.

Edward combs his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"My wife has a broken heart and I'm afraid that..." he couldn't continue what he is about to say.

He tries hard to swallow the lump in his throat.

He can't lose her!

He can't!

"Doc, you need to know that my wife suffered from a broken heart syndrome five years ago!" he volunteers the information just to be sure that the doctor will be able to diagnose whatever the problem is correctly.

"I see! Thank you for telling me! But I think you have to nothing to worry about in that area. She's fine!"

"She's fine?!? Then why the hell isn't she awake yet?"

Edward paces back and forth.

"Calm down my heart!" Dale says in a weak but firm voice.

Edward is instantly by her side.

"Oh my God, Dale!" he holds her hand while stroking her hair.

"Shhh...my heart, I told you I'm okay!" she says smiling.

"I....I thought..." Edward couldn't voice out what he really thought.

He's so damn afraid that he would lose his wife.

The doctor coughs discreetly to get their attention.

They both look at him with an inquiring look.

"If you can get up now Ma'am, let us proceed with your test."

"Test?!?" Edward asks in panic again.

Dale slowly gets up from the bed.

"It's okay my heart!" as she cups his face with her hands.

"But..." he starts to protest in confusion.

She kissed him to shut him up.



Edward is taken aback by the kiss but it is effective in calming him.

Dale pulls away to follow the doctor.

After a few minutes, Dale returns with the doctor.

She sits beside Edward and they hold hands.

The doctor returns too.

Edward couldn't help but notice the concerned look on the doctor's face.

But then the doctor smiled and said, "Congratulations! You're pregnant!"

Dale just nods.

Edward stood up in surprise.

"Does that mean we're having a baby?" he looks from the doctor to Dale.

Dale nods her head and smiles.

But the doctor shakes his head.

Edward is confused once again.

"But you said she's pregnant?"

"Yes she is! But she's not having a baby! Because she is having babies! They're twins!"

"Twins?!?" Edward and Dale exclaims at the same time.

"It can't be! I can't be pregnant with twins!" Dale says in panic.

She looks visibly shaken.

"Edward, I can't be pregnant with twins!" she says almost in a whisper.

"Why not my love?" Edward asks concerned.

"Because...because I might die!"
