THE ATTEMPTED MURDER

Denzel respected Phyllis deeply after the dinner party with Amelia's family. He realised she wasn't only a smart woman but she was graceful, generous and visionary and that's what he was looking for in his woman so he couldn't love her less. They had become one of the most popular couples in town and people admired them for her they maintained their relationship.

Phyllis started working as the Public Relations Officer for Richards International, the business conglomerates of Amelia's father. She was in the same building with Amelia but different offices yet they became very good friends. Amelia took time to give Phyllis on the job training not only as a Public Relations Officer but in many other capacities as well because she saw that Phyllis was not only smart but she was industrious and trustworthy as well. Phyllis was a woman of integrity and therefore won the admiration of her colleagues and bosses as well as their clients and partners. Amelia became very good friends with Phyllis and they spent a lot of time together after work.

Denzel had convinced Phyllis to move in with him so they were living together though they were neither married nor engaged. She took charge of the house by cooking, cleaning and doing laundry. She was able to manage his house as well as her official responsibilities with excellence. She mostly traveled to the other branches of their company to gather information and other things that would keep her abreast with the happenings in Richards International to enable her work effectively and efficiently.

On one Tuesday afternoon as she was returning from one of her numerous trips, their company's car collided into a tipper truck which took the life of the driver and put her into a life threatening situation as she sustained serious injuries and went into coma as well. She was rushed to the hospital by a man that was plying the road and saw that she was in a critical condition. The contact on her speed dial was Denzel so the hospital called him so that he could rush to the hospital immediately. Denzel was shaken up by the news and therefore one of his colleagues offered to drive him to the hospital to protect him from a possible accident due to his mood.

He was asked to wait for the doctor in charge since he was in the theatre operating on Phyllis. He waited for close to two hours before the he saw her on a stretcher being pushed to the intensive care unit of the hospital. The doctor then called him to his office and gave him an update on Phyllis. The doctor told him that he was able to save the baby and the mother. That actually got Denzel confused so he told the doctor he was talking about a wrong patient since Phyllis wasn't pregnant but the doctor told him to relax and showed a scan which was in Phyllis' hospital folder to him. He was surprised as he saw the information on the folder was Phyllis' and was even more shocked when he realised the pregnancy was five months, three days old.

He requested to see her but the doctor asked him to wear protective clothing that will be provided by the hospital before he could see her so that she will be prevented from infections. The doctor also told him that she was in coma and he almost collapsed after hearing that bit the doctor held him and put him back on his chair for sometime before he allowed him to see her. He sat on his bed, held her hands and poured his heart to her even though she couldn't hear him. He spoke about how much he missed her and how empty his life is going to be without her presence in the house. He also rubbed his hands on her belly to feel his baby and talk to him as well.

Amelia rushed to the hospital as soon as she heard about the accident in the news. She went started to the doctor in charge of Phyllis' treatment and promised him that Richards International was going to pay for Phyllis' treatment and therefore urged the doctor to give her the best of treatments since money wasn't a problem. She later went to see Phyllis and saw Denzel in there. She also broke down when he saw her lying helpless on the bed covered in bandages. She spoke to Denzel for sometime and asked him if the accident affected her pregnancy. He was surprised and asked her how she knew about the pregnancy since he wasn't even aware of it until the accident. She told him she had be in the known for about a period of four months and that she had been escorting her to her antenatal. Denzel was surprised and angry with her for keeping it from him but she apologised and told him that Phyllis had made her promise not to tell him because she was afraid of how he would take it. He quietly looked at Phyllis and sat on the bed. He really wanted to fight with her for keeping the pregnancy from him but he couldn't do so because she was in coma and that even made him miss her more.

The doctor requested they leave and come back the next day but Denzel didn't want to. He struggled with the doctor for sometime before he agreed to leave with Amelia because his colleague had already left after checking up on Phyllis. Amelia dropped him off at his house and warmed soup for him to drink before she left. After drinking the soup, he took his shower and drank whiskey to help him wallow in his sorrow before he went to bed. He couldn't sleep as he kept tossing in his bed with thoughts of Phyllis and his baby flooding his mind. He wept till he fell asleep.

Early the next morning, as he was preparing to leave for the hospital, Amelia called him to meet him at the police station because she had been called to go to the station and she wanted to go with him since Phyllis was his girlfriend. He got to the police station in twenty-three minutes after the call. Amelia was already there when he got there so they quickly went to the Commander's office. They were told that, the police suspected that someone intentionally tried to murder Phyllis since the brakes of the car were tempered with and therefore the police was launching an investigation into her accident. Denzel and Amelia were shaken and confused that someone would want Phyllis dead.

The hospital called Denzel to the hospital as they were leaving the police station so he went with Amelia. Phyllis had woken up from the coma but was still very weak and she couldn't stop calling his name. She couldn't control her tears when she saw him but Denzel held her hands and wiped her tears while convincing her to stop crying. He told her how he missed her and how lobely he felt especially in the night when he slept alone in the bed. The doctor requested Phyllis stayed in the hospital for few more days so that they could monitor her and the baby and Denzel agreed.

She was discharged from the hospital a week after and was asked to stay at home without doing any hard work for a month. She was to go for review in a month's time for her to be examined by the doctor before she could go back to work. She stayed home while Amelia and Denzel took turns to attend to her. Though she missed working, she enjoyed their attention and company. The police came to her in the house to ask her questions on her accident since they were investigating a murder attempt on her life. She responded to the questions they asked her but gave them no clue on who she thought wanted her dead because she wasn't sure. She also wanted to do her own investigations before she would involve the police because she suspected a very influential man who she knew was in bed with the police and other powerful people in their city.

Amelia gave her a leave after she recovered and they both travelled to Dubai so that Phyllis would enjoy herself while she took a proper rest. The day before they left, Denzel fucked her like he's never done though he was gentle with her. He didn't allow her do any work on bed they day, he did everything to make her enjoy him. The police decided to give Denzel police protection till they're done with the their investigations while he moves to a hotel or an apartment that's unknown to anyone so he moved to live with a friend at the outskirts of town.
