MEN SOMETIMES LEAVE WHEN THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE BRAIN OF A WOMAN
Every father is attached to her daughter especially when they're either the first or last born. Denzel spent most of his time with Beryl whenever he was home. He decided to not be bringing work from the office to the house so that he could support Phyllis to take care of her since she was now very busy with her work at Richards International and her foundation, Dahlia. What amazed him was the fact that she continued to prepare their breakfast and supper coupled with doing their laundry especially his own and taking care of Beryl. A day to Beryl's one year birthday, while Denzel was in the living room with Beryl, he noticed her taking her first step and texted Phyllis to rush to the living room to be a witness to that since that's also a stage in every baby's life that parents love to witness. Phyllis took Beryl to her office at Richards International on Monday and as soon as she put her down she began to scatter her office and break things. Phyllis watched her for a while and then settled to work while she called her Personal Assistant to watch over Beryl. Mrs. Richards came over for a visit and proposed that Phyllis took Beryl to school since she could now talk because she thought she being in school wouldn't only give Phyllis time to work but it would help Beryl's cognitive and socio-emotional development as well. When Mrs Richards left, Phyllis sat quietly and took a pen to write her thoughts down. She was planning on operating a school especially creche not only for the sake of Beryl but for the children of the women, both beneficiaries and workers in her foundation to benefit and be well taken care of since she would be monitoring the teachers and administrators of the school. She called her husband and invited him for lunch.
As soon as Beryl saw him, she began to call him, Dada and she happily grabbed him while he sat down. When he saw his wife's posture and mood, he smiled to himself because he knew she was coming to have a discussion with him about an idea she had conceived. Yes! He knew his wife very well. She laughed out loud because what he said was the truth. "Well, Sweetheart, I have been thinking throughout this morning about taking Beryl to school." He wanted to interrupt her because he doesn't support Beryl being in school at that age. I was thinking that I should attach a school to the foundation so that Beryl and the other children would be in safe hands since I would be monitoring them. Denzel smiled and said " where do you get this attitude of turning problems into opportunities and ventures? You're too smart that you scare me at times. Honestly, if I was to marry you now, I would have run away. No longer you had so many disappointments. The guys left not because you're a bad person but they couldn't handle your brain. I'm proud to be your husband. Cheers to us."
" But baby," he continued, you can run a school but not attached to the Foundation else the school won't survive because it means that the school would be a non-profit organisation and raising funds to finance it would be difficult so let's establish a school but not attached to the school even if you want to make it free for the children of the Foundation's beneficiaries, we would still get funds through the tuition fees the others would pay to support the school. Phyllis smiled while she held his hands and humbly said "thanks for the compliment and suggestion babes. This is our project and I want you to handle it. This is something both of us have to do for our daughter and I leave it in your hands as the head of the family." Denzel accepted to work on it with her and thanked her for the opportunity she was given to him to protect and develop his daughter. They left the restaurant to their various offices after the meal and discussion.
Phyllis started taken an online course in Counselling and Guidance with an accredited university because she wanted to improve upon her counselling skills so that she would be able to help with the psychological assessment and counselling of her beneficiaries. She already had a Master's Degree in Project Management but she still felt the need to develop more. Her husband was worried about her because he felt she would break down due to the stress in handling all that she was doing but she assured him she would be fine so Amelia either spent the weekends with them so that she would take care of Beryl or take her to their house for the weekend so that Phyllis would get the time to rest since Melanie attended lectures during the weekends.
Denzel began to feel distanced from his wife because she had become too busy for them to even have conversations and discussions like they used to. Their sex life was being affected but Phyllis didn't see notice it because he never complained about how her life was affecting their marriage. Amelia noticed how Phyllis' life was affecting her home, so she had a discussion with her about it. Phyllis thanked her and apologised to Denzel one evening during supper and promised to make it up to him.
