Chapter 18

After two weeks vossenberg boy was no where to be seen, I decided to ask Louis because I could not bring myself to call him.

I approached Louis with a sense of unease,

"Have you seen him that vossenberg boy around lately?" I asked Louis, oblivious to the fact that the Vossenberg boy was standing right behind me.

Max's voice cut through the air like a knife, his disappointment evident in every word. "You mean me?" he replied, his tone tinged with a hint of hurt. Louis turns and looks at him then excuses himself.

I turned to face him, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment at my own ignorance. "I... I didn't realize you were here," I stammered, my voice tinged with guilt.

Max's expression softened, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "It's okay," he said, his voice gentle. "But for future reference, my name is Maxwell. You can call me Max."

I nodded, grateful for his forgiveness, a sense of warmth spreading through me at his easygoing demeanor. "I'm sorry, Max," I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper.

He smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "No harm done," he replied, his tone light.

Before I could dwell on my embarrassment any further, Max extended an invitation to lunch, his smile inviting and infectious. "How about we grab a bite to eat?" he suggested, his voice filled with enthusiasm.

I hesitated for a moment, the weight of my guilt pressing down upon me like a heavy burden. But as I met his gaze, a sense of resolve stirred within me, urging me to make amends for my unintentional slight.

With a nod of agreement, I accepted his invitation, a sense of gratitude welling up within me at the opportunity to make things right. And as we fell into conversation, the awkwardness of our initial encounter melting away in the warmth of our shared laughter, I found myself drawn to his easy charm and genuine warmth.

Before I knew it, Max was extending an invitation to karaoke night on Saturday, his smile inviting and genuine. "What do you say? Care to join me?" he asked, his eyes alight with anticipation.

I hesitated for a moment, the prospect of stepping outside my comfort zone both exhilarating and intimidating. But as I met his gaze, a sense of excitement bubbled up within me, urging me to seize the opportunity for connection and camaraderie in the face of uncertainty.

With a smile of agreement, I accepted his invitation, a sense of anticipation building within me at the prospect of spending more time in his company. And as we made plans for Saturday night, the promise of new beginnings beckoning on the horizon.
