Chapter 14

After leaving his own, he headed to the clan house masters bedroom which was located in the same quarters, not too far from his. The bedroom was twice the size of his, with twice as much furnishings and was twice as grand, but because of his past relationship with his father, Charlie rarely visited here.

He entered the bedroom after knocking and getting no response. Surprisingly, when he entered, no one was there. He then tried to recall what Devine said, they weren't here, but rather, in the study. His mind had been too occupied that he had misheard, or rather, mistaken what Devine had said.

He grumbled and closed the door behind him as he left the room and changed direction to that of the clan house study room.

As he walked passed the halls, he recalled what had kept his mind so distracted.

Stacy.

That moment they just shared, he could have sworn that he'd never experienced it with another female before. And he wasn't talking about the physical attraction, no. Of course, he'd done that plenty times, both with female demons and humans, but none of them had ever reached his heart the way this lady he'd just met a few days ago did.

Her body was soft, with a few faded scars from her past. He'd studied her before now, he knows how much she's been through a lot, especially in the teenage years of her life. He'd searched her soul, and found nothing but purity and brightness despite the hardship; this was unlike any of the females he's ever been with before.

The way he held her, the way she made him feel, it was more than just physical attraction. It was different, it was better. He wanted more of her, his dick ached terribly just by walking away from her, but he had to do what was important to help her first, so he had to control himself, that's how he found the strength to leave her. If not, nothing that Devine said would have stopped him from taking her right there on that couch.

The room was quiet after Charlie left, and Stacy didn't know what to say to this young man who had a striking resemblance to the man who had just walked out, only that he looked younger.

A blush crept up her cheek as she recalled what just happened a few minutes ago. Charlie had made her heart feel a different way she never thought she would feel after her previous relationship died. It was like a dead flame that had just been rekindled.

Never did she expect that she would experience something like this at such a time in her life, right at the moment where she was supposed to be feeling the worst kind of pain that the man she thought she loved had caused her.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of her stomach growling, then she realized that she hadn't had anything to eat for hours since she left the human world.

"Was that a thunderstorm that just happened in your belly?" She heard Devine speak from the corner bedside where he sat. He too had been a bit shy to speak to her until he heard her stomach.

"No," Stacy chuckled at his joke. "I've just not had anything to eat since I came here."

"Oh! Right!" Devine realized it then. These humans and their weird means of survival. "You're um…. What's that word…? Oh yes, hungry? Right?"

Stacy nodded, surprised at how he made eating sound so strange, until she remembered the kind of creature he was.

"Don't demons eat?"

"We can, but we don't. It's pointless whether we eat or not because it does nothing for us. Food can never give us the kind of supernatural energy we already have."

He saw the confused look on her face and sighed. Did Charlie not let this lady know anything?

"Let me see, how do I put it in human understanding?" He tried to think of something from the human world that could be used to explain to her better. "For example, just like humans, we are like batteries that need recharging. Only that we don't need any external source of energy. We recharge by ourselves, so food is pointless. Demons only need to eat when they possess humans, in order to keep the body alive."

"Oh, right! I get it now."

"Forgive me for not offering you anything, it's hard to think of food when you don't need it at all. And also, forgive my annoying brother for not knowing what to do. He should have been the youngest instead of me."

Stacy smiled at his statement. He was so humorous. So this was Charlies' younger brother. It's no wonder they resembled each other so much.

"So what will you have now? Tell me anything you want and I'll rip it up for you."

"You cook?"

Devine scoffed, "eeew! No, but I am a demon, so I can make anything I want appear and disappear, including food."

Stacy didn't know if she liked the idea of food she was about to eat popping out of nowhere, but hunger didn't give her much choice.

"Are you sure it's safe?" She asked uncertainly.

"Perfectly. It's human food, of course. Just that some poor folk might be missing their dinner somewhere in the human world, but that will be easy for them to replace rather than you that's here. You can't get anything to eat here at all."

"Okay," Stacy nodded. "Thank you. Anything will be fine, really."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I'm so hungry, it's hard to have preference for anything at this point. I'm starving."

"Okay."

With a snap of his finger, a large buffet appeared right on the table in front of where Stacy sat. She'd never seen so much food in her life that was meant for only her.

Her eyes widened in shock. "Where did you get all this food from?"

He shrugged, "as you didn't want a particular thing, I had to bring everything. Some folks in your world might be missing their dinner now, but that's replaceable, now eat up before you get any more thunderstorms in your stomach."

Stacy stared amusingly at Devine for a few seconds before she slowly uncovered some of the plates. So Devine lived in the clan house here with Charlie's parents. Something told her that the both of them would be very good friends when she comes to live here.
