Foul mood.

The next morning, Richard went downstairs to have breakfast. Seeing Miranda's darkened expression, he thought she was still mad about what had happened the night before.

George threw a sneaky look at her and said, "The wound on your lips must be from a sister-in-law, right?"

"Your sister-in-law was rough" Richard said plainly making Miranda's eyes narrowed into slits.

"Wow! Is it appropriate for me to be here and listen to your conversation?" George smirked.

Miranda shot George a cold glare, then she put the fork on the table.

Richard pushed the chair and stood up. Taking the coat from Emily, he took out a black card from the coat and put it on the dining table. "This card has no limit."

Miranda took a mouthful of soup and nodded.

While buttoning the name buttons, Richard said in a cold voice, "DonB is recruiting people now. The translation department is in shortage of people. You can prepare your resume and send it to Steven if you want to give it a try."

"Okay. I will try!" Miranda quickly answered.

After having breakfast, Miranda sat in the living room, holding a notebook. She drafted her resume and proofread it before letting George take a look at the resume.

Miranda hurried to her grandmother's ward after she arrived at the hospital. When she arrived at the door, Miranda heard her grandmother laughing; she saw through the glass door that the nurse was telling her grandmother a joke. As she looked at her grandmother's gentle smile, she felt warmth in her heart. Miranda pushed the door open, and her grandmother's eyes lit up when she raised her head and saw her.

Miranda peeled an apple for her grandmother with a gentle smile. Then, she scooped it out into a bowl with a spoon, put a tiny fork that she had brought with her in the bowl, and handed it over to her grandmother. Miranda's grandmother was old, and her eyes were lined with wrinkles. When she saw how filial Miranda was, her eyes couldn't help but sparkle with tears. "I have been a burden to you, my dear granddaughter."

"Grandma, what are you saying? You have to build up your health and get better as soon as possible." Miranda held her grandma's hands.

Miranda spent the entire afternoon with her grandmother before leaving the ward.

-----

Miranda took a cab and got into the car. She took a deep breath looking out the window. Inadvertently, she glanced across the street and saw a man pushing open the door of a dessert shop and walking out. His left hand was holding onto a black umbrella with his defined jawline visible from under the umbrella.

There was a woman that was walking right beside him, but the woman was blocked by the man's body, so Miranda couldn't see her face. Though Miranda and Richard had not known each other for a long time, Richard's tall build and his indifferent temperament had already imprinted on Miranda's heart.

Thus, she could certainly conclude that the man holding the umbrella was Richard.

"Please stop the car!" Miranda made the driver park at the roadside. She watched as the man tilted the umbrella toward the woman, oblivious to the fact that half his shoulder was drenched. Then, he pulled the car door open and placed a hand on the roof of the car to prevent the woman from bumping into it when she got in.

Richard always had a cold demeanour and treated people condescendingly. As far as she knew, he had never been as gentle as this before.

Suppressing the unusual emotions, she mumbled, "Is she his...."

Miranda was in a foul mood as she went to her friend's place.

"Miranda, are you not feeling well? Here, have a cup of hot milk first." Nancy prepared hot milk for her.

"Thank you," Miranda said.

When she finished, they both fell silent for a long time.

"Miranda, I still can't understand why you agree to marry Richard. It has nothing to do with you anyway." Nancy said in a fed-up tone.

"Can't you bring up Richard?" Miranda huffed.

Nancy stopped asking more questions. She turned around and went back to the kitchen.

Nancy was a good cook, so the three simple dishes and soup she prepared were very delicious. Soon enough, she and Miranda sat at the dining table to eat dinner.

"Miranda, eat more. I haven't seen you for only a few days, but you already seem to lose a lot of weight. Is Richard starving you?" As Nancy spoke, she picked up some meat with the chopsticks and put them on Miranda's plate.

Mentioning Richard's name made her feel depressed at once.

"Okay...No R.I.C.H.A.R.D" Nancy uttered making Miranda burst out laughing.
