Blood.

Bloodthirst. Alex was on his way to the hideout, with his arms shivering. He wanted to kill, He needed to kill. The most outrageous thing about this situation was that he couldn't sense the change in his state of mind. He had been blinded by his need for prey.

Jane, who was responsible for tailing him, was shocked by his current state. She wanted to approach him and analyze his current state closely, but she knew that this would hinder their plan.

Alex had reached the hideout. He didn't ask for any help from anyone, and after checking a bit on his computer about the information regarding the hideout, he was more than happy to continue towards the base on foot. This mission was his, and no one else was allowed to interfere.

It wasn't too far from the Institute, and this was a foolish mistake on their part. They underestimated the Grey family.

Outside the hideout, Alex readied himself. He knew that they were living inside the basement of an abandoned house, which was still owned by someone, but they seldom visited the house. There were no advanced security gimmicks, just a single wooden door. These guys were clearly amateurs. Seeing that the information on the USB was on point, he just unlocked the door discretely and disabled the trap that was tied to it. Then, he continued inside.

"Even he could have taken care of these thugs alone."

Alex was talking about Steven. He might not be as talented as Alex in the art of assassination, but the gadgets that he had would easily help him to deal with them.

Seeing that there was no sound, Alex continued to walk inside. The location of the basement had been marked inside of a map in the USB, which was imprinted inside of his mind.

After noticing some small traps that were similar to the one that was at the door had been laid down on the ground, Alex easily disabled all of them. These traps consisted of strings that were placed in a particular way so that they could alarm the people inside of the basement.

Alex finally reached the door that was connected to the basement. The shivering increased. He could see the strings that went straight to the basement through the door and decided to terrify them as much as possible.

He grabbed all the strings and started to shake them frantically. An annoying sound that resembled hundreds of bells chiming emanated from the basement, and he decided to break the door immediately. He wanted to take advantage of panic, and calculated the number of people inside of the hideout in a second. 19 poor souls, waiting to be reaped.

Just as they were about to gang up on him, Alex decided to kill the nearest person with his bare hands. He punched the target's neck so hard that it cracked, the sound sending chills down the spines of his prey.

Then, without wasting any more time, he proceeded to continue his slaughter by picking up a knife that his previous target had dropped. The lights had already been activated, so everything and everyone was visible.

He made his way towards the next target and killed him with a simple stab to his heart. The thugs stopped trying to resist him because the person that was just killed was their leader. He was the only person with a gun in their group. They weren't exactly a group of thugs, but a bunch of newbies who had been hired to just rob the institute. They were being paid peanuts for this mission when compared to the actual price of the prototypes that were in the institute and had taken up this job out of pure desperation. They had tried and failed around 7 times, and had decided to leave tomorrow, but as of now, they could forget about ever getting out of this place alive.

Alex didn't want to use a gun in the first place, so he ignored the body and continued his killing spree.

Two of the thugs felt their legs turn weak and fell, fear visible in their eyes. Alex had killed around 7 more people in quick succession, with a single knife. His clothes had turned beet red in color, and his eyes scanned around the room, seeing who he would kill next.

Quickly picking his next target, he decided to continue his killing. One of the thugs had a bright idea and decided to go towards the corpse of the leader, to retrieve his gun.

Alex was too busy killing other thugs, so he didn't notice what the thug was doing. after finishing his next target and taking the death count to 10, he refused to slow down. Less than 3 minutes had passed, but it felt like an eternity to the thugs, while Alex felt that it had been too short.

The thug successfully retrieved the gun and pointed it towards Alex. After the 10th death, everyone had frozen on their spot. They couldn't even breathe due to the pressure of the bloodlust that Alex resonated.

Without any time for hesitation, he shot towards Alex. It was clear that he wasn't going to stop for negotiations, and it was better to get rid of him completely.

Alex heard the Gunshot. Without delaying for even a second, he dodged the bullet, but the thug kept on shooting towards him. Due to no prior knowledge of actually using a gun, his shots were not accurate, and Alex noticed this and kept dodging. He had successfully dodged every one of his bullets and decided to throw his knife directly at his head with all the power he had. The thug, who was thinking about what his next step should be, wasn't ready for the attack. He died with the knife stabbed in his head, despair visible from the expression that he made before breathing his last.'

The rest of them screamed after witnessing what had just happened. Three of the bullets had hurt their own member, and Alex picked the knife out of the brave thug's head and continued killing.

5 minutes later...

Alex was seated on the pile of bodies that he had collected. He was going through their belongings and found out some messages on the Leader's phone that were made to an unknown number. He was satisfied that he had found some evidence, or else he would have failed this mission due to his inability to hold back. He was still feeling the need to kill someone, but it was way less when compared to before.

After collecting the phone, he decided to leave. The corpses were in the basement, so it would take some time before anyone would find them. He made sure to find a break a wooden plank and used some of the nails that he found and hammered them using the gun in place of the door, securing the basement.

After lying down on the bed inside of the house for some time, he left the house discreetly. He was extremely angry, but this time with himself. This wasn't how he was supposed to act. His body and his clothes were soaked in blood, which was completely in contrast with the type of image that he wanted to make of himself. This wasn't an assassination, this was what a barbarian would do.

Hiding was extremely difficult, but he was relieved that he had decided to do this at night. He made his way towards the mansion, still panting due to all of his body being in pain. He still tried to remember what he had done previously, but all he could remember was that he was given a mission by Lucius, and immediately after that he was standing in a room with corpses lying everywhere.

He entered the mansion, with his feet soiling the floor with blood. His crimson footprints were all over the floor of the entrance, and after taking a few steps, he tripped and fell.

Before he could fall on the ground though, he was held up by someone. It was Lucius, who had been informed about everything by Jane. He had remained in contact with her, asking for specifics from time to time.

"You failed the mission, Alex."
