New survivor

Upon arrival, he saw the horde of zombies. They had surrounded a group of humans: Survivors to say so. H e got closer. The zombies stopped their activities and made way for him to pass as though he'd commanded them. This shocked him. Since when did that ever happen. Nonetheless, he walked to the group of survivors and looked at them.

He looked aside and threw up. Their necks, chest area, guts and backs had bite marks where thick red blood oozed out. Only one of them hadn't been bitten but had blood all over him/her. He didn't know the gender so he got closer and picked it up. He realized it was a girl. One of the survivors who hadn't bled out grabbed his trouser tightly. "Save us," he said as he gurgled blood to his mouth.

Alex nodded and whispered," I first have to find the cure." The survivor let go of his trouser. Alex began walking away carrying the girl and the survivor shouted," Take care of the..." His sound faded as the zombies continued feasting on the survivors. Alex shed a tear as he walked away. He had no idea of where he was. He decided to have a closer look at he girl. She had long black hair and her beautiful face had been covered by blood of is fellow survivors.

Luckily, the teenager had been following Alex and pretended to collide with him. "We've met before?" Alex asked. The teen nodded. Completely surprised by spectating the whole scene, he had to know who that man was. I mean do you see zombies stop feasting on humans because of another human so that that the human can rescue another human. "Hi, I'm Nate," the teen began. "I'm Alex. I'd shake your hand but they're occupied." Alex said. Nate nodded understandably and withdrew his hand.

The chat went on for a bit. "By the way, should I..." Nate began but stopped. He looked at his wrist and counted the air. "Look at the time see you another time," Nate said before disappearing behind a building. Luckily, Nate had led Alex to the Agro store and Alex could remember his way back to his home. The walk was long and tiresome and he finally made it. He placed the girl in the guest bedroom and lay her on the bad before he himself had some sleep too.

Alex woke up early the next day. He staggered to his feet and finally to the sitting room. He prepared himself for some cultivation which he knew very little of. He passed by the girl's bed, who was already awake, and picked a hoe and a slasher and walked out of the house.

The sun hadn't risen yet. The air was fresh, cool and tranquil. He waited for the sun to rise and after it did, he'd already tilled the piece of land where he was going to plant. He planted the seeds he'd gotten from the agro store and all he had to do was wait. He checked if his contraption had got some water and surely it had. About forty liters to be exact. That was fine by him. He rushed into the house and picked a container. He transferred some of the water into the container and went back into the house.

As he sat on the couch, he felt something touch him. Startled, he jumped and looked behind only to see the girl. He sat down and she sat beside him. He was thinking how long it would take for the crops to grow. He didn't notice her stare.

"Where am I?" she asked. "You're in my home," he answered. She looked around noticing the place wasn't familiar and her memory hazy. When she tried to look back at what happened, only zombies could be seen. They approached her, pinned her down and .... That's all she could remember. She gasped. "I'm dead aren't I?" she asked. Alex shook his head. "You would've been dead if I hadn't rescued you," Alex answered.

He switched his gaze to her. This made her feel shy and she looked away. "Then why can't I remember anything?" she asked. He looked at her and weighed her question. He studied her behavior and concluded she needed some time alone. He shrugged his shoulders, got up and went to the kitchen. Luckily, he'd found some food the previous day.

He prepared breakfast and set it up in the dining room. He walked back to the sitting room. He tapped her shoulder and she shrank away and placed some distance between them. He lifted his arms to show that he didn't have bad intentions. Though it did nothing, it did clear up his mind. "What's your name?" he asked. "Sarah and you?" she asked. "I'm Alex. Anyways breakfast is ready, walk down the hall and you'll find the dining room. I'm heading out," Alex answered.

After that, he left and looked around the compound. "There's only one water station,' he said to himself. He went back to the house and lay on the couch. He went to the basement door and punched it out of anger and sobbed softly.
