chapter Twenty-Two- Siblings Love and Advice

Lisa and Rachael returned home after dining at a roadside food joint. Rachael sat Lisa down, running her fingers through her hair.

"I'm sorry, Lisa. I can't believe I would be disappointed like this. I'm so sorry for everything. When you go to school tomorrow, just don't talk to him. Ignore him so he wouldn't hurt you, and as for Diego, I won't speak to him ever again," Rachael muttered the last part as Lisa looked at her sister.

"You need to get some rest," Rachael said, arranging the bed for Lisa.

"Do you love him?" Lisa asked as Rachael turned to her.

 "What?" Rachael asked.

"Do you still love him? Lisa asked again as Rachael sighed, sitting on the bed.

"I think I actually never stopped loving him, which I know it's stupid of me after what he did to me," Rachael said.

"It's not your fault. The heart wants what the heart wants. You can't deny it," Lisa said. "For what it's worth, I think he's really into you," Lisa added as Rachael looked at her.

 "You think so?" Rachael asked

 "I know so," Lisa answered.

"But still, I'm so mad at him. He couldn't even protect my sister from his brother. How does he expect me to ever look at him?" Rachael asked.

"You of all people, should understand him. I know you were so horrible when you hit me; imagine how he would be," Lisa said.

"Even though…" Rachael paused, looking at Lisa.

 "What?" Lisa asked, smiling

"Since when did you start taking his side?" Rachael asked as Lisa rolled her eyes.

"I'm not taking his side; I just don't want my sister to lose the man she loves because of me," Lisa said.

"But, Lisa, no buts. You love him, go for him. Don't mind me. I'm doing okay, and I have you to look after me if anything ever goes wrong," Lisa said cutting Rachael.

"When did you grow up? I haven't noticed," Rachael said.

"Of course, I'm smart. You just don't see it," Lisa teased.

"Of course, my sister is smarter," Rachael teased back as they laughed. "I love you so much, Lis," Rachael said

"I love you too, Rachael," Lisa said as they hugged each other.
