chapter twenty- Generational Quarrels and Chuckles

Diego and Rachael sat down to eat when he spoke first,

"So, how did it go with you and Lisa?" He asked.

"Well, she refused to talk to me even when I pleaded this morning. She left the house refusing to talk to me," she said as he chuckled.

"This is how the kids of this generation behave. At home, it's always my younger brother and my dad. They quarrel all the time, can't even resist each other. It's as if every time they see one another, a fight just brews, and I always have to be in the middle to end the quarrel. It's kind of exhausting, but the things we do for family," Diego explained, and Rachael nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, the things we do for family," she chimed in. "A really stubborn generation," she added, as they chuckled while eating.

*******************************************************Lisa had just finished sweeping and gathering the dirt, she began to mop the floor. She was so sweaty that it stuck to her body. Coming to inigo's side as she cleaned, he ended up pouring water on the floor, unnoticed by the lecturer.

"I can see how eager you are to join her, Mr. Sunsedo," Mr. Frank remarked, leaving Inigo at a loss of words.

"You're free to cover your shame," Lisa retorted, and Inigo gave her a taunting smile.

"Yes, ma'am," he mumbled. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor little Lisa. How are you going to read now? All your books have been disposed," Inigo taunted.

Unfazed, Lisa responded, "I can still read. I'm not as brainless as you are," leaving Inigo as students around them laughed.

By the time she was done, the bell for closing rang. Lisa stopped a cab, heading home with a heavy heart.

*******************************************************Rachael had just finished having tea with Diego when she went to his office. Despite their project, Diego kept staring at her.

"If you keep staring at me, we won't be able to get anywhere with this project. We can as well just end it," Rachael remarked.

"I'm sorry if I seem disrespectful," Diego apologized as they refocused on the project.

Diego's landline rang, and he answered before looking at Rachael.

"It's the security guy," Diego said.

"And what about him?" Rachael asked, confused.

"He said Lisa's here and it looks like she had been crying," Diego said. Immediately, Rachael ran out to see Lisa sitting outside.

"What's wrong, Lisa?" Rachael asked, and Diego joined them.

"He outdid himself today," Lisa said, resting her head on Rachael's body, explaining everything that happened while crying.

"Oh my God, Lisa. Didn't I say you needed to change schools. Now see how hurt you are," Rachael exclaimed.

"I can handle him," Lisa insisted, but Rachael rolled her eyes.

"And I can see you doing just that," Rachael retorted sarcastically.

"There's no need to be sarcastic, Rachael," Diego interjected, looking at Lisa. "Come on. Get into the car," he said.

"Where are we going?" Rachael asked.

"Lisa's school, of course. I'm sure that jerk's still there. We'll deal with him on behalf of Lisa," Diego declared.

"You really don't have to do that," Lisa and Rachael said in union, looking at each other.

"I want to make sure he knows that you have someone superior. I'll teach him a lesson on your behalf so he would think twice before hurting you," Diego insisted.

"Okay, let's do that," Lisa agreed, and they all got into Diego's car and left.
