As the most experienced of the group, Bethany was well aware that whatever awaited them whether there was nothing there or something was there, there needed to be a way to deal with it or come up with another plan of action.
Sloane had taken the first action as he kept running toward a destination but there needed to be something in place for when he got there.
Bethany could already see that Sloane was running at his full speed so he would surely tire himself out.
Sloane kept running as fast as he could but he could feel himself becoming a little breathless from pushing his body so far.
He may have been a Balancer and he may have worked out quite a lot to improve himself but he was still human.
