Chapter 23 – Sister oh sister

'BANG'

Miyako slowly stood up with puzzlement in her face.

"Kai, stay out of this. When I am being nice." Said Miyako with a fierce look on her eyes.

"Fufu, nice?... you humor me."

"Guess I have to break a couple of other arms."

With a ferocious look in her eyes she took her wooden spear and got back to face kai. Meanwhile Nagisa was being treated by her grandmother. Her broken bones and torn muscles were completely healed after a single drop of their traditional medicine vial. But Nagisa stood unconscious.

"Pff… I will break it again." Said Miyako to her grandma, who was treating Nagisa.

"I guess it is better to break your arm too, Kai."

"Try me!"

Both stood facing each other ready to duel whilst Miyako had her spear Kai stood weaponless. Grandpa honoring their resolve, stood as the judge to their duel.

"Drop your spear, Miyako."

"Haha, afraid?"

"No! ~ do a weapon haul!"

"Hehe… you're my brother, I don't want to kill you~~"

"DO A WEAPON HAUL."

With a resolve Kai adamantly insisted on to real weapon combat with Miyako, which even threw her off guard.

"Kai it is no time to be valiant." Said concerned grandpa.

"Yeah K-kai."

"DO IT!"

Hearing on Kai's unwavering resolve, Miyako weapon hauled a spear.

"Use the sword to do a weapon haul, Kai."

(Miyako asks Kai to use the wooden sword as a spine to his weapon haul).

"No just start the duel already."

"W-wai—"

"START THE DUEL."

Upon hearing that and the fierce look on his eyes, grandpa started the duel. Kai standing weaponless and with zero guard even made Miyako worry a bit.

"SA~A HAJIMEYO!"

With grandpa starting the duel, Miyako hesitating a bit kept her left foot forward ready to attack. Kai disappeared out of her vison.

"WHAT?!"

"WHERE IS HE?!"

"WHERE DID H—"

Before she could even figure out what was going on Kai stood behind her pointing a sword to her neck. Before she could make her move or even before she could think of her move, Kai had won the duel. She was shocked, felt fear and loss for the first time in her life. She rationally analyzed her situation she was in.

"I-isn't that the sword Nagisa had?"

"Wasn't that on the other side of the dojo?"

"No, When did he have the time to take that sword from there and stand behind, winning?"

"WHAT EVEN IS HE?"

She was both afraid and admiring of Kai's ability to beat a full potential user like her. She fell on her knees as her legs gave out on either fear or admiration.

Nagisa was still unconscious as she slept through the fight and rested later in her room. Kai sat on his room facing outside the window as he looked listless. Grandparent had a mixed feeling about the whole incident, they were unsure to feel proud of their grandson or feel sorrow for their granddaughter or feel remorse towards the other. Whilst Miyako, excused herself into the room Kai was in hoping to have a talk.

"Kai, I want to talk to you…"

"Sure."

"…about what happened today."

"Y-yeah."

"So…., first….um….im sorry for what happen today!" With an abrupt tone whilst fidgeting, Miyako apologized to her brother.

"Yeah… don't fret, I have a vague guess why you would act like that…hehe."

"Yeah..."

"I'm sorry… truly I didn't want to hurt you nor Nagisa."

"When I heard what happened at your last mission… I was afraid of the risk you two would put yourselves into. I didn't want this life for you and her. So I taught by scaring you I would put a stop to all. I'm sorry."

With all of her heart, Miyako apologize to Kai reasoning her actions.

"Hehe… afraid of my safety?"

"Fufu…. I did clearly see that today."

"Hmm safety? Then what about her will and her dream?"

"I'm sorry."

"Tell it to her when she wake up."

"Yeah, you're right."

Miyako stepped into the room and sat on the arm of the window as she conversed with Kai.

"I guess I don't have to fear about her or you." *phew. Letting out a sigh, her stressed face lightened up a bit.

"Yeah…"

"…but Miyako, for having a bland expression less face you are caring, aren't you?"

"Fufu…haha."

Miyako laughed while holding back.

"Ha… you're laughing… it's Miyak-lol."

"HAHAHA."

They both laughed and shared the stories of their adventures they had until now whilst night sky battled with the bright light of the full moon. Grandpa coincidently heard them talking and felt reassured and proud of his grandchildren.

The End.
