Chapter 2

The class dispatched for recess. Mary was on the brink of their tongues, her attitude had caught them unexpected and it had created an itch on them, before long, the news of Mary had spread throughout the school through gossip and because Jake was popular and she was rude to him.

The new baddie at Braddock high. Mary had gotten quite a spot light on her first day of school.

Mary went to the bathroom and sat there for a while, she wasn't in the mood to eat lunch and even she was stunned by her own attitude, she had only meant to be a not caring student not to make the class turned against her but she had done it already and there was no going back, she just had to live with it.

But then she thought, what was there to be afraid of, it was the same dummy headed high schoolers anyways, they would forget it soon.

Mary got up from the toilet seat and walked out of the bathroom looking the same as before with an unreadable expression.

Mary was wrong, they hadn't forgotten it, they had spread it, Braddock high cafeteria was silent immediately Mary stepped in, they had all been waiting for her to make an appearance, they drank the look of her. Mary seems unbothered and strolled to the lunch table, she picked out and lunch and sat alone. The murmurs continued.

"I heard she almost slapped Jake this morning"

"She shouted at a teacher"

"Oh she's a real bitch".

Mary could hear most of them but she did otherwise. She wished she was putting on an hoodie so she could hide herself and come back as a new person the next day.

The rumors and lies poured out like waterfall in spring, different stories were made up about her.

Nobody went near Mary and Mary didn't mind, she wasn't here to make friends anyways, OK that was a tiny lie, she had hoped to make maybe 2 friends.

"Hello there, heard you're a newbie". A guy settled down on a seat close to Mary and said.

Wow those this school breed Hot guys. Mary was stunned for the third time that day.

"I'm Drew".

Well hello there Drew, Mary blinked. Drew was a stunner, he was just as tall as Jake, he had cotton white hair and deep blue eyes. His face was cute and hot at the same time with a broad nose and light pink wet lips, Mary looked down at his lean neck. He was clad in white, white tee's and white pants, he looked like an angel.

Mary had two choices, be rude to him and confirm her reputation in front of the school or be good to him and build a new face for herself and possibly make a friend. Mary went with the latter.

"I'm Mary". She mouthed.

"Nice to meet you Mary". Drew put out his hand and Mary shook it. She couldn't decide who was hotter between Jake and Drew.

Everyone saw what happened, Mary hasn't spoken lettuce with the hottest guy in school, Drew Barrymore as they had expected.

Lunch was over, surprisingly no drama happened even though most of them were expecting it.

Mary heaved a sigh immediately she sat down in her next class, she had made a promise to herself to be a low key student but somehow she had brought herself to the spot light, Mary was sure the entire school knew her by then.

"Heyy burtcher. Heard you made friends with Drew uhn?" the voice Mary recognized spoke into her ears.

Geez why does he like doing that, it takes a lot of strength for Mary not to laugh because it tickled her.

"Don't talk to me". Mary said to him.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot. I'm Jake Stone".

Mary held back a snicker, stone? That was his last name and he made fun of Burch.

"Well Mr stone, I think you'd do better with a sand or rock". Mary told him.

"Ah Ahh I get your sarcast but I'd rather be a stone than a burch".

"Same here stone".

"Well my promise still stands. I'm going to make sure you go through hell".

"Bring it on". Mary found herself saying even though she actually wanted to shout "Please I don't mean for all this to happen".

Before Jake could go on a teacher came in and stared to teach to Mary's relieve.

During the lesson, Mary felt something hit the back of her neck, she cringed and ignored it. Five seconds later another hit her again, she knew it was someone trying to mess with her but she ignored.

Mary growled and turned around when she felt something hit her the third time.

"Burtcher!" she heard as she felt something cold descend on her face, she couldn't scream or react. She was unable to blink or open her mouth. Her nose was blocked and she couldn't breath, it happened so quickly she didn't have to think. The minute she felt air enter her nose and she was able to breath she screamed. Mary screamed out her throat and fought to breath, she screamed again and was finally able to breath properly.

"Who was that? What happened, the voice of the female teacher asked.

Mary realized something, she was wet. That was what happened, someone had burst a water balloon right on her face making it hard to breath for a moment. But what was worse, Mary was afraid of water. Mary froze in spite of herself as her wet face brought back memories, deep memories she lived over and over again every single day........

"If you tell anyone what I did to you I'll drown you" Marcus would say and then dip her head into a sink full of eater. He would do it again and again repeatedly and whisper the same sentence. It occurred so often that it made Mary dread water, it was always brought back the painfull memories, even taking a shower was torture. The reality that she had no choice but return to marcus every single day always made a shiver and being away from him was her only comfort which was school and now it was reminding her of him.........

"Mary? Are you okay?". The voice brought her back to reality. Mary's eyes had turned blood red and she was breathing unevenly. She looked up and around and was surprised to find some of the students looking at her with a concerned look except Jake that had wet her with water.

You can't let them know what you're going through, Mary thought. She quickly changed her sober look.

"is everything okay with you Mary", a British accent that belonged to the teacher asked.

Mary looked up and saw the smirk on Jake's face, how dare he do this to her. Without thinking or hesitating, she grabbed Jake's collar and drew him to herself.

"You stupid stone! Challenge on!".

The class snickered loudly.

"Quiet!" the angry teacher shouted.

"The challenge was on before" Jake grinned into her face.

"DETENTION BOTH OF YOU!!!", that was the final words of Mrs Sharon and it had to be obeyed.

Hours later, detention had ended Mary walked into the school parking lot and entered a grey car, she averted her gaze to her shoes as she sat down.

"Detention on your first day Uhn!" Marcus's voice rang out. The voice that Mary really feared, she shivered lightly.

"You deserve to be punished for that". An evil smile plastered on Marcus face as he drove his little sister home. Mary understood what he meant and tears lace her eyes.
