Vald's Pov
Why couldn't she just accept the fact that I saved her stupid life?
That stupid human girl infuriates me! I should have just left her to be squashed!
"Do you have any idea of what you've done?!" Adriana shouted as she knocked the vase from the table. "You have put all of us at risk because of that stupid human!"
"Yes, and I'll take full responsibility for my actions."
I knew Adriana was furious as I said those words, and I could tell Haden sided with her from his silence.
"You stupid Leech!" Adriana spoke as her body shook in anger.
"That's enough!" Haden intertwined with an unreadable expression.
I watched as Adriana balled her hands into a fist only to punch a hole Then she turned on her heel all of one piece, like a statue on a pivot, ... gave me one of her furious glares, but turned on her heel and left the room.
"She'll come around." Haden mumbled, letting out a sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Aren't you mad at me?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Yes." Came his blunt response as his jaw tense and I felt a waved of guilt washed over me.
"But I'm sure you have your reasons for not letting her die," he spoke before walking away.
I felt suffocated and the room reeked of shamed and guilt. With full vampire speed, I headed to the attic where the portal to my world awaits.
Upon stepping inside, I was stopped midway by the clearing of their throat.
"Ahem!"
"Are you here to voice those disgusting thoughts of yours, Kathryn?" I asked in a disgruntled voice. "If so, I don't want to hear," and with that said, I stepped inside the portal.
Upon arriving at Eleanor, I took a bath and changed into something more appropriate. Even though it was prohibited for us royals to prepare our own bath.
There was a knocked on the door while I was adjusting the scabbard for my sword.
"You may enter."
And soon as the permission was granted, the door was pushed opened, revealing Theodore with a straight face.
"His Highness, Prince Vald." He bowed, "His Royal Highness, the King has requested you see him at once immediately."
"Where is my father?" I asked, knowing exactly why I was summoned.
"His Majesty, awaits your presence in the King's Courtroom."
I walked through the corridor of the castle that led to the King's Court with Theodore silently by my side.
The silence was deafening, I might add.
"Is there something you wish to say, Theodore?" I asked, as I suspect he knows more than he's letting on.
"No." Came his short answer.
I knew there was something, but I just nodded but didn't comment further.
My gaze wandered around to look at the palace I hadn't seen in a year. There was still an old painting hanging on the wall, the jade flower pots around each corner, and the soldiers standing in front of the large door that led to the King's Court.
"His highness Prince Vald," the soldiers bowed, stepping aside, so I could enter the room.
I entered the room which was filled with people, the murmurings increased in volume as everyone stared at me with doubtful eyes. I knew that many rumors had been spread and there were many more to come.
The many pairs of eyes following me was not something new, as I am the crowned Prince of this Kingdom.
"Your Majesty, ma'am and Your Royal Highness, sir." I greeted with a bow.
"You may rise," Xander voice echoed in the room. There was an uncomfortable silence eating everyone up. The tension was unbearable. The people seemed to not understand the King's intentions towards his son
"I hope you have been well over the year, in the human world." The Queen's spoke.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I have been well." I answered with a straight face, before taking a breath to ask. "Why was I summoned?"
And everyone stilled for a moment as their heartbeat's increase at a rapid rate.
"You'll move back to Eleanor at once, or your title as Crowned Prince will be revoked." Xander declared as the room erupted in hushed whispers.
"This is absurd, father!" I shouted gaining everyone's attention to fall on me.
"You'll move back home at once and continue your duties and if you refused, I have no choice to name Sage as my successor." He said flatly, standing to his feet.
Sage was my half brother, who was a year younger than I was. He despised me, and would make it well known even though we share the father.
"You should rest well, we will talk soon about when you'll be continuing your Royal Duties." He spoke with an indifferent expression on his face, leaving everyone in disbelief.
