Chapter 16

Should he wait for her? Or just go on with the rest of the family?

Calhoun didn't have to think for too long as the dining doors opened and the bitch he had been searching for waltzed in.

"Hello, family!"

As his eyes settled on her, his devilish chuckle escaped from his lips, catching her attention.

"Oh my gosh! If it isn't my favorite nephew, who am I seeing? Calhoun!" She screeched running to where he was. She bend down and placed kisses all over his cheeks. "Calhoun! How nice of you to be here!"

"Hey move!" She snapped at Rosa who was sitting closer to Calhoun. Nothing wanting her crazy aunt's wrath, Rosa moved away from the sit, letting her aunt take it.

This earned her a glare from her mother but Elsie paid no attention to it. Her mother had been on her neck to get married and she wasn't interested in such things. She completely refused marriage proposals from every man that was bold enough to even try. That attitude of her made her mother, very disappointed in her.

Elsie was extremely young and beautiful, a woman desired by many men in high statuses and below. Yet she refused to give any of them a chance.

"Now tell me why haven't you come to visit all this while?" Elsie asked stealing a piece from his plate.

"Just business," Calhoun answered with a smirk. He could feel the tension in the room changing to a colder level and this he knew was because of his aunt Elsie's attitude of tuning everyone out.

"Elsie I think you should allow the boy to eat his meal in peace. He had a long day. You should also eat your own food and stop taking from him," grandmother scolded with a roll of her eyes. "Besides, you came in here and couldn't even greet the rest of us, is Calhoun the only one here?"

Elsie glued her tongue to her mouth as she finally saw the rest of the people on the table. "Hello!" She greeted them, not caring if they answered or not. Her mother was not fun! How did she even end up with them?

The rest of the family grumbled a reply and she smiled, clasping her hands in excitement. "This is going to be so much fun!" She said, shoving the different bites of food into her mouth.

Calhoun watched her with an amused look on his face. His aunt reminded him so much of Ariana Brown. She was also carefree and super funny. Those were the kinds of women he liked to keep around him not the ones that acted all proper but turned out to be destroyers and evil people, like his Lily, his uncle's wife.

Ariana was going to make a perfect wife for him. There would never be a dull moment. She was perfect for him. Which brought him to the conclusion of the information he was about to share with his family.

"Calhoun, you said you had something very important to tell us," his grandmother started as soon as they had all finished their meal.

A dead silence filled the room as everyone held their breaths waiting to hear his answer. Most hoped it was something horrible only a few hoped for a miracle because everyone knew Calhoun only dropped bombs for news every time.

He cleared his throat to draw the attention of everyone towards him. "Yes, grandmother. I do, have something to say." His gaze moved to everyone, taking his time to build the anxiety of anticipation. He slowly moved to each and every one of them, until someone snapped.

"And?" Grandmother asked, unable to wait any longer.

He heaved a long sigh and Elsie hit her hands on the table, making everyone jump in fear. "Come on, Calhoun! What is the matter? Are you in some kinda trouble?" She said turning her head to the side like she could read his cold features.

"We should let grandfather say what he has for me, first, before I say mine," Calhoun said. He was enjoying the anticipation, and he wished to find other means of dragging the matter a while longer.

"Calhoun!" Aunt Bianca and his grandmother chorused a cry.

"Yes, aunt!" Calhoun asked with a smirk.

"We all know what your grandfather got you but no one knows what you have for us. Come on, what is it, Calhoun?" His grandmother insisted and he couldn't help but laugh.

"You all know what grandfather got for me, I need to know too," Calhoun whispered.

"Calhoun!" Aunt Bianca cried and Elsie laughed earning a cold glare from her.

"Aunt, tell grandfather to tell me, so I can also tell you the news I have?" Calhoun insisted.

Everyone turned to grandfather to hear what he got for her.

"I see what you are doing boy, trying to buy more time for yourself," grandfather laughed.

Lily and her boys are so irritated by the entire display, they couldn't wait to hear whatever the devil wanted to say so they could go back to their lives.

"I got you the latest designer suits by Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, plus something else. But you have to tell us your bug news before I say the next surprise." Grandfather beamed.

"Dad, you got him another suit? Jeez, that's so lame!" Elsie exclaimed falling into a fit of laughter. Calhoun almost chuckled himself but he didn't want to make his grandfather sad, he could always give out the suits to the beggars.

"Thank you, Grandfather, I am sure I will love it," Calhoun replied, flashing his grandfather a small smile. He loved his grandparents. They were too kind towards him, sometimes he wondered what his life would have been kike if he had lost his grandparents too. They made sure he never missed his parents.

"So, your grandfather has spoken, what's the news, Calhoun?" His grandmother asked, getting impatient.

Calhoun took a deep breath and stared into his grandmother's eyes, "I want to get married."
