PARADISE

'Jedrek...'

His name resounded deep in her ears. She casted him a final glance with a complicated feeling in her eyes, watching his nonchalant attitude as he stared ahead without sparing her a glance.

After hearing what he had to say even though she didn't quite understand and didn't get the answer she wanted, she could only faintly trust him and hope that he could get her out of the problems he speak of.

With a light heart, she let out a deep breath and tried to relax her shoulders. She leaned her head on the car seat and the exhaustion from last night drifted in. She yawned loudly and finally closed her eyes surrendering into dreamland.

Jedrek finally turned his head and stared at the petite girl huddled at the end of the car with steady breathing. His deep gaze remained unwavering on her small face. This view...her peaceful face whenever she was sleeping.

Although he has seen it quite a few times he felt that he still hasn't gotten accustomed to her serene appearance. He stared at it every night and he wanted to do more than just staring but she felt out of his reach.

He watched as her long lashes which casted a shadow on her eyes flutter as she slept and unknowingly the corner of his lips raised in a faint smile.

He raised his hands slowly and carefully brushed a few strands of her golden locks that almost fell over her eyes. As he did that, his cold palm came in contact with her warm skin and she frowned lightly.

He quickly withdrew his hand and adjusted her sleeping position. She turned a few times before finding a comfortable spot and then snuggled into the corner of the car for warmth.

He watched her actions for a while before pulling his jacket and draping it on her bare shoulders. He watched as a faint smile rose on her red lips in satisfaction due to the warmth and his earlier smile became more radiant.

He tore his gaze from her and leaned his head on the car seat. Just as he was about to close his eyes his phone screen lit up and his brows knitted into a deep frown reading the message that followed.

A deep frown marred his perfect features as he placed a call and his deep voice resounded in the quiet car.

"Handle the situation carefully... and don't worry, she's with me."

As he said the last part, he turned his head and stared at the sleeping girl snuggled up in a car and his face illuminated a deep shade of warmth.

__________

It was about sunset when Raine opened her eyes and woke up. She found herself on a bed with a blanket draped over her and her brows knitted finding the surroundings unfamiliar.

She tilted her head to the side and caught a view of a floor-to-ceiling window. She paused momentarily, staring at the view outside.

She saw that the sky was painted in a deep shade of orange but a faint gradient of red was creeping in hinting sunset. The sky was clear and a few clouds spotted the clean atmosphere.

But that wasn't what mesmerized her. She stared ahead and the scenery left her in awe. She got up and took slow steps towards the window forgetting about her surroundings.

She paused in front of the large window, her legs couldn't move an inch. The magnificent view of spotless green forest trees left her speechless. The whole place felt like it was brought out of a fairy tale painting.

The landscape was surrounded by trees with mountains which made her doubt that this was a residential area. From the corner of her eyes, she could make out a small waterfall that flowed to a small lake nearby.

Different colors of birds surrounded the atmosphere and hearing the faint sound of rushing water and the chirping of birds accompanied by the view of the setting sun, she felt that she had been transported to paradise.

A soft breeze blew softly making the linen curtains dance along. A few strands of her hair blew on her face and she felt the urge to close her eyes enjoying the serenity of the atmosphere.

"It's pretty, right?"

"Huh?..." Raine snapped her eyes open as she heard an unfamiliar voice sounding from behind her.

She turned around abruptly and she was stunned for the second time in just a short while.

Her words were caught in her throat watching a certain unfamiliar godly figure approaching her.
