Chapter 40

Grayson headed down the hallway toward the townhouse he now shared with Ari. He made a mental note to look for another place with her. They need a place together. A place where she would feel at home.

When he walked in, he didn’t see Ari, so he walked over to the bar and fixed himself a drink. Then he leaned over, and held it to his head, trying to relax.

Then he heard something down the hallway, and his heart sank.

Grayson set the glass down, as memories of Dima with another man in his bed ran through his mind.

He started down the hallway and opened the bedroom door... but no one was there. He breathed a sigh of relief.

But when he turned around, Sam and Ari were walking out of the spare bedroom, laughing.

Grayson froze. “What’s going on?”

Sam looked up and smiled. “We heard a noise from the back, and I told Ari to stay here, but she followed me down the hallway anyway. When I walked into the spare bedroom, there was a woodpecker banging on the window.”
