“You know what happened to me after Dad died, right?”
“I only just learned that today, but yes.”
“Let’s just say that in Ted’s case, history repeated itself and leave it at that.”
“You don’t mean—”
“Unfortunately, I do. Except for my father, Ma was never very good when it came to choosing the right man. When Ted came home with us, he was having nightmares every night. Right now, he’s seeing one of the best child psychologists in the southeast, and she’s helped him immensely.”
“I’m glad they had someone like that in Jacksonville,” she said.
“She’s not in Jacksonville. Ted and I fly to Atlanta every Wednesday to keep his appointment with her.”
“That must be expensive.”
“Yeah, but I got a huge settlement from the Navy out of that malpractice suit, and what better use to make of it?”
“You remind me so much of your father.”
“I do?”
“Absolutely.”
